Hello!
We are a happy and easy-going family living in Frome - voted best place to live in the UK for the last 2 years. We live in a lovely townhome with a great garden and a short walk from the town centre. The train station is also close, which makes exploring Bath or Bristol easy to do as well.
We have three boys (7, 5 and 3) and 1 year old baby girl.
We are looking for someone who is fun, playful and active.
We need help with household chores and playing with the kids. End of day clear up and tidy is a lifesaver!
Experience caring for young kids is a must, as well as a very competent level of English.
We are an open and welcoming household. We, and the kids, are used to houseguests and hope to make you feel like part of our family while you are here.
We are a good fit if you are:
Positive
Warm
Used to taking care of yourself - can make your own meals etc
Have good initiative and don't always need instructions on how to help - eg does laundry need folding, are there toys I can put away....
Looking to explore the Southwest of England and keen to explore Bristol, Bath, Jurassic Coast etc
Confident with kids
Happy to play football in the garden or take kids out for a walk in the pram
Happy to read books and play Lego
Really into kids - ideally thinking about going into a kid-centric career - Nursery, Teacher, Midwife, etc!
We are not a good fit if you are:
Not used to helping around the house
Overly introverted
A night owl - we ask for help in the morning and we all go to bed pretty early!
We look for stays of 4-6 weeks but can be flexible in some circumstances.
Look forward to hearing from you :)
Katie + Earl and the kiddos!

We are an open, creative, and fun loving family. My wife worked in the film industry previously but is now retraining as an acupuncturist. I’m American and work as a creative director for a well known tech company. We love cooking and spending our weekends exploring the gorgeous countryside or taking advantage of the different festivals and markets happening all the time in Frome. We can offer lots of suggestions for fun daytrips from Frome.
Competent English is important for communicating with us and the children, but we are open to helping you improve your conversational language skills so you needn't be a pro :)
We would love to show our kids that there is a big wide world out there so other cultures, customs and cooking are very much welcome in our home.

Frome has so much going on with lots of great cafes, restaurants, events, live-music and theatre. Bath and Bristol can be visited by bus or train. There is also a train + bus to London.
We love where we live and can’t wait to share it with you.
Katie and Earl are such warm, loving, and patient parents. I really admire the way they interact with their children. In every situation, they manage to stay relaxed and find solutions to problems together. They manage to create an atmosphere where you can feel comfortable at all times.
I had a really wonderful time with Stella, Hartley, Dylan,… read more and Jake. All four are very bright and lovable children, funny and wild, very smart and real Potterheads:). I quickly grew fond of them all. Also, my days were really relaxed, I enjoyed doing all the household chores, which were so much less than I have to do at home haha. Most of the time I played with Hartley, took him to kindergarten or went to the park with him and had so much fun with this quirky kiddo!:) In the mornings, I always had plenty of time to myself to explore the area, which is also beautiful. (Tip: MadeAtNest in Frome, such a nice place:)
Thank you so, so much for the wonderful time with you, I'd love to see you again some day!
Hanna stayed with us for a month and she was such a wonderful guest in our house. She took great initiative in exploring all the great things that the South West has to offer. Her English is excellent and we had no problem communicating with her. Katie and Earl are the kindest people. I stayed with them for almost 3 months and felt very comfortable from the first day. Frome is a beautiful city as well, with nice coffee spots and cute little shops. It was also possible to get a few days off to travel a bit further or for friends and family to come for a visit.
The kids were so sweet and I really enjoyed playing on the trampoline, with Lego or on the swing and going for walks to the sandpit. At the beginning you might think that four kids are a lot, but Katie and Earl always made sure that I never felt overwhelmed by having to watch all of them at once.
So if you like spending time with children, I can really recommend staying with them, as I enjoyed it very much!🌟
I had a wonderful experience staying with this host family. From the very first day, they made me feel welcome and part of their home.

My tasks were very easy and never stressful: my day started with cleaning the kitchen for about 30 minutes, and then I had a lot of free time until 2 p.m., when I took care of one child (never more than one) — usually one of the two little ones — but it was never tiring; on the contrary, it was fun!
I also had plenty of free days to visit Bath, Bristol, and Salisbury (Frome is well connected by public transport).
The two older children were very independent, but the few moments we spent together were always enjoyable: we could play lego, football, or simply have conversations.
I shared many lovely moments with Earl and Katie, talking about our cultures and other topics, and I look back on our conversations with fondness.
The time I spent with this family helped me grow a lot as a person — it made me more independent and really opened my mind. I truly miss them; I enjoyed every moment and felt so comfortable with them. I would highly recommend this family to any au pair looking for a kind, loving, and supportive home.

Vom Host für Workawayer (Sara)
Sara stayed with us this summer and we loved getting to know her.

She has great initiative and would take our two year old on lovely adventures in the park or walks around town.
Sara is also an excellent cook - do not let her leave without giving you a full Carbonara lesson. We have been making autentic Italian Carbonara ever since... although it is not quite as good as Sara's ;)
Sara is a really warm, friendly and enthusiastic guest and we highly recommend her to any host.

I stayed at Katie and Earl's place for 3 weeks and I really enjoyed every minute of it. I really enjoyed spending time with the kids and getting to know all of them. I was with Katie and Earl's family for a month in October, and had an amazing time there. All members of the family are genuinely curious, social, and they just radiate such happiness that it's always a true privilege to be able to spend time with them. The kids are very active, and a lot of fun, I loved getting to know them, playing with them,… read more talking with them! I stayed with this amazing family for 7 weeks, and they’re the friendliest and most respectful hosts I could ever ask for! The tasks were mostly about helping to tidy up and keep the house organised, with some babysitting when Katie & Earl were preparing dinner. The kids are super active, outgoing, and connect with everyone easily. We had so much… read more fun playing football, puzzles, Legos, Hotwheels, and watching Teletubbies together. The kids are so full of ideas you’re never bored with them. Even though there were three energetic kids in the house, babysitting them was never stressful. They always respected my boundaries, and Katie & Earl ensured my working hours were fair. Katie and Earl are also very thoughtful and flexible. I really appreciated it when they allowed me to take a week off to visit my dad in Switzerland.
Frome is a really cozy town with lots of great bakeries, cafes, and charity shops to explore. There’s always some community activity happening, and my favourite spot is the library -it has vast book collections! Public transportation is very convenient, with direct trains/buses to London/Bristol. The house also has a great location -just 15 minutes by foot from Frome’s town center.
I feel so lucky to have spent Christmas and New Year’s with this wonderful family🎄✨ They invited me to their grandfather’s for Christmas, and I got to bake gingerbread cookies with Jake & Dylan! We also had many lovely cultural exchanges, and I really enjoyed my conversations with Katie & Earl. I wish Jake, Dylan, Hartley, and Stella all the happiness and health as they grow up💗💗💗 Thank you so much for everything -hope to see you all again someday! 🌟

I was able to travel during the weekends and discover England!
Their house is very nice and the village is very cute!
