Beschreibung
I live in an old farmhouse (1900) with a cat and a dog. My 2 sons have left to go study in Leiden and Groningen. I love the quietness of the countryside. I also like to build and work on the house and garden. I try to do that in a sustainable way, as much as possible. I like to work and be with people who also want to live simple, of the grid ecological etc. Allthough it's a crazy world, we can still contribute to the good things that are also there.

It' s an agricultural area in the north east of the netherlands, next to a nature protected area. Groningen is an over 900 years old university city, 50 km from here. Within 20 km you will find the "Hunebedden", ancient stones. Like Stonehenge but completely different :).
I have done a lot of building projects and can help people with techniques.
In Bourtange you can see some history of a few ages ago and in Ter Apel there is an old monastry.
What I like about being a host, is that all kinds of cultures pass by and that we can have a lovely exchange. I had wonderfull experiences and I hope the workawayers had the same! I do the technical work myself, but a pair of hands is often needed. -
Arbeit
I'd like to get some voluntary help with maintanance of the farmhouse and the garden (8000m2).
I'm not much of a cook, but together we can fix nice meals. There's enough room for 1 or 2 helpers, with the possibility to cook for yourself if you like (in the caravan). Enough private space on the property! -

There is a bedroom in the house. But if you want to camp, that is also possible.Or use the caravan. You can take showers in the farmhouse.
I share the garden with a friend, an old veteran who likes to live off grid. He has his own little house behind the farm. -

Nearest busstop is 6 km. Trainstations are in Groningen (50 km), Assen (40 km) and Emmen (30) . There are a lot of possibilities to go hiking or cycling. There is an e- bike to go for a trip. Usually I take people out for a trip to Bourtange or the Monastry or a hike in the forest.

I stayed in vera's house for a couple of days and helped her paint the walls and sanding the floor.
it was a realy great experience for me, to get to know her, talking about a range of topics and visiting very nice and itresting places around the area.

We had a great time at Vera's where we stayed for 2 weeks. We lived in a very comfortable mobile home next to her house. So we had our own space to eat and sleep.
