We are a small lodge in the Andean Chocó region of Ecuador, located two hours from Quito, the capital. Our 4-hectare reserve is home to a wide variety of flora and fauna, making this place our special daily environment. Our team is mostly made up of local people, allowing you to experience the history and culture of Mindo firsthand.
Our team consists mainly of local people, which allows guests to experience Mindo’s history and culture first-hand. We employ four permanent staff members, who work in various departments such as administration, cleaning, the kitchen and security; in addition, we have four to five people who help out when we are busier or when the need arises.
My work here focuses on conservation and promoting care for the environment. As a native of Mindo, I am keen to ensure that future generations understand and look after this environment, which can be vulnerable to modernisation and the uncontrolled growth of tourism. Mindo offers many activities such as hiking, visiting waterfalls, birdwatching, butterfly watching, etc., which allow us to experience nature up close and respect it. My commitment is to educate others whilst also striving to reduce the impact we generate on a daily basis.
Somos un pequeño lodge en el chocó andino del ecuador, ubicados a dos horas de Quito la capital. Nuestra reserva de 4 hectáreas es el hogar de una gran variedad de flora y fauna que hacen de este lugar tan especial nuestro entorno diario.
Nuestro equipo es formado mayormente por gente local, lo que permitirá tener de cerca una experiencia con la historia y la cultura de Mindo. Empleamos de manera permanente a 4 personas, quienes se distribuyen en diferentes áreas como la administrativa, limpieza, cocina, vigilancia; adicionalmente 4-5 personas que nos ayudan cuando tenemos más ocupación o la necesidad lo requiere.
Mi trabajo local está enfocado en la conservación y promover el cuidado, como habitante nativo de Mindo me interesa que las siguientes generaciones logren entender y cuidar este ambiente que puede ser vulnerable con la modernización y el crecimiento descontrolado del turismo. Mindo ofrece muchas actividades como senderismo, visita de cascadas, observación de aves, mariposas etc. lo cual nos hace vivir de cerca y respetar la naturaleza, mi compromiso es enseñar y a la vez tratar de reducir el impacto que generamos diariamente,

We offer the opportunity to immerse yourself in the local culture, its cuisine, customs, and daily life of the people who inhabit this part of Ecuador. We are located one mile from the town center, and our location is ideal for those seeking tranquility, nature, and a connection with the local culture. We encourage volunteers to share their own experiences, practice their Spanish, and showcase their customs to our team. Living and sharing closely with the community fosters a broader understanding, creating a genuine and meaningful cultural exchange.
Ofrecemos la oportunidad de sumergirse en la cultura local, su comida, las costumbres y la vida diaria de las personas que habitan esta parte del Ecuador. Estamos ubicados a una milla del centro poblado y nuestra ubicación es ideal para quienes buscan tranquilidad, naturaleza y a la vez estar en contacto con la cultura local.
Buscamos que los voluntarios compartan sus propias experiencias, practiquen español, muestren sus propias costumbres a nuestro equipo. Viviendo y compartiendo de cerca se puede tener un entendimiento más amplio, creando un genuino y significativo intercambio cultural.
Arbeit
We are looking for someone to assist at reception when guests arrive or depart, and to be on hand during quieter periods to attend to any requests they may have. Additionally, the volunteer will be responsible for keeping the reception area tidy and organised during quieter times.
Support in other areas is greatly appreciated. The volunteer would be expected to dedicate 25 hours per week, with two days off, either consecutive or on days of their choice.
Buscamos ayuda para la recepción al momento de ingresos o salidas de huéspedes, y en ratos tranquilos estar pendientes de algún requerimientos que estos puedan tener, adicionalmente mantener el área de recepción en orden y organizada durante las horas tranquilas.
El apoyo en otras areas es muy valorado. El tiempo de ayuda que el/la voluntario/a dedicaría es de 25 horas por semana, con 2 días de descanso, continuos o en días a elección.

Unterkunft
We offer a room with a private bathroom and hot water, access to a shared kitchen and weekly laundry service. We also provide a stable internet connection and access to trails and common areas perfect for relaxing, doing yoga, reading, or simply enjoying the surroundings.
Breakfast is included for volunteers; depending on the schedule agreed upon during the exchange, this may include two additional meals, such as lunch or dinner; however, fruit is always available.
Ofrecemos una habitación con baño privado y agua caliente, acceso a una cocina compartida, recibirás una comida al día y un servicio de lavandería a la semana.
También ofrecemos conexión estable de internet, acceso a senderos o areas comunes perfectas para relajarse, hacer yoga, leer o simplemente disfrutar el entorno.
El desayuno está incluido para los voluntarios, dependiendo del horario que se acuerde en el intercambio, pueden ser dos comidas como almuerzo o cena, sin embargo siempre hay frutas disponibles.

In the town where we are located, there are many activities to enjoy, such as hiking, visiting waterfalls, exploring trails, and observing biodiversity. Mindo offers a peaceful nightlife. We are located 1.2 km from the town center, easily accessible in just a 20-minute walk or a 5-minute taxi ride.
En el pueblo donde estamos ubicados hay muchas actividades para realizar, como caminatas, visita a cascadas, senderos, observación de biodiversidad.
Mindo ofrece una tranquila vida nocturna, estamos ubicados a 1.2km del centro, de fácil acceso a solo 20 minutos de caminata o 5 minutos en taxi.
