Here on Samos crafts(wo)men from all over the world come together to share their expertise and their ideas, to learn with and from each other and to produce the things they need the most, themselves.
In Samos we produce humanitarian aid ourselves:
by hand. locally. sustainably. independently. honestly.
And this is where we come in.
In our workshops we work, learn and laugh together, pass on skills and knowledge, and develop innovative solutions. The products we manufacture directly improve the current living situation and alleviate humanitarian suffering. This is how we break the vicious circle of dependency.

Positions available:
Reception Manager (minimum stay 3 months)
• Managing and overseeing the reception area.
• Managing the phone intake and -administration for the department of phone repair.
• Receiving and assisting all volunteers, customers, and visitors at the reception.
• Scheduling appointments with new applicants, registering new team members, creating and maintaining the electronic and physical dossiers of up to 45 people, organizing goodbyes and birthdays).
• Providing general assistance and supporting the welfare of team members.
• Ensuring constant and sustainable development of the office.
• Helping with general tasks in the SKILLS FACTORY.
Maintenance Volunteer (minimum stay 2 months)
• To keep our premises and departments fully functional, regular maintenance, repairs, and upgrades are essential. We also engage community volunteers with professional backgrounds in construction, leveraging their skills to enhance our operations.
• As a Maintenance Volunteer, you will oversee the upkeep of our facilities and departments, recruit and lead a team of skilled community volunteers, and manage construction projects as needed.
Other tasks include:
• Driving: Conduct shopping trips for necessary supplies or transport volunteers for registrations and other errands.
• Gardening: Maintain cleanliness and organization of outdoor areas, water, prune, and plant as needed.
• Participate in daily team meetings, relevant discussions and weekly selfcare-meeting.
• Provide administrative support if necessary
• Offer assistance across various departments, including WASH
• Contribute ideas for improvement and innovation
WASH Manager (minimum stay 2 months)
• Oversee the WASH project operations
• Work closely together with a team of 1-2 community volunteers
• Manage daily appointments, wash, dry, fold, and organize laundry
• Document laundry activities and maintain inventory (reporting)
• Maintain cleanliness and functionality of laundry facilities
• Manage shower facilities
• Engage in improvement of services and outreach
Media Facilitator (minimum stay 2 months)
• Collaborate with the department coordinator to establish media plans.
• Organize the required equipment for the media department.
• Recruit a dedicated team of community volunteers.
• Facilitate the production of diverse media content, encompassing photography, written materials, social media campaigns, exhibitions, and event management.
• Orient new team members to the department and the SKILLS FACTORY.
• Facilitate production, training, purchases, orders, and maintenance.
• Organize departmental tasks, ensuring each member can flourish while maintaining a productive environment.
• Manage stock, inventory, and material procurement.
• Conduct weekly department meetings for feedback, discussion, and planning future productions.
• Implement structures and routines for workshop organization.
• Provide weekly reports and collaborate actively with project management for sustainable departmental development.
• Establish procedures, schedules, and best practices.
Furthermore, what will I be doing?
In the different departments of the project on Samos, professionals from all over the world work closely together to exchange their knowledge, to create and produce, to find innovative solutions and to learn with and from each other.
The workshop project is managed by craftspeople from the refugee community, connected through locals, facilitated by external volunteers -> You :)
As external volunteer you will be responsible for:
The facilitation of the workshops and help to ensure smooth working days. You will have an overview on the team, their skills, the upcoming tasks, plans and external jobs, organize missing materials, helping with introducing new volunteers and support them where needed, and ensure the connection to other actors or / and the local community.
You will participate in the daily morning meetings to discuss upcoming questions, changes or challenges and in the weekly self care / peer support circle. Whenever it’s needed, you will help out with general tasks like cleaning, cooking or shopping, team activities or joint projects with other departments.

We recommend volunteer to stay around 3 months. This way you have enough time to get to know the project and the people, to feel comfortable in the department you work in, and to learn and improve. We apply a minimum of 6 weeks.

You will have the chance to meet, work with and learn from crafs(wo)men from all over the world - see other approaches, recognize the similarities and the great potential of all of us.
