  We are a family of four from a rural area in the Finnish archipelago. The family consists of mother Henriikka 34 years old, father Ville 36 and kids, girl is 8 years old and the boy is 5 ,5years old. I work remotely from home and Ville goes to work in Turku every weekdays. So it is possible for workwayers to go to the nearest big city, Turku, almost every day.
  
  We live in the middle of nature, in a big 2 hectares green yard by a narrow strait. The municipality of Taivassalo is a 2km walk away, a small village of 1600 people, but in the summer it is full of life with tourists from the archipelago's ring road and cottage owners. Here you can hike in the forests, do some fishing and enjoy the outdoor life as we do ourselves too!

  Kultureller Austausch und Lernmöglichkeiten

  Workawayers are very welcome in all our family activities! Sometimes we just stay at home doing nothing and enjoy the day, sometimes we do outdoor activities like cycling and hiking. We welcome new skills in any field, life is a constant learning process. We ourselves are quite handy, Ville is a carpenter and I have some knowledge of construction myself. We are happy to help and share our knowledge with workwayers! We love learning about nature, survival, gardening, music and life in general. I myself am a community educator and nature guide by profession, and I am happy to share information about Finnish nature and culture. We are also very interested in other cultures, travelling and nature related experiences. We would love to get to know the workaeayers and maybe visit them on our own travels one day.

  Arbeit

  We need help with small projects at home such as painting the sauna or terraces, small DIY projects, grass mowing, gardening, etc. However, the main focus is on cultural exchange, enriching everyday life, especially for children.
  
  The help we need is periodic, there are days when we don't need any help and there are days when we start a project together, like building a shed for example.

  Unterkunft

  The accommodation we offer is a private apartment next to our house. The apartment is an old barn which has been renovated into a comfortable modern apartment of about 80sqm. The apartment has a bedroom with beds for five, a small entrance corridor, a kitchen-living room and a toilet with a shower.
  
  There is no food provided by the host, but there is a very full kitchen where you can cook for yourself. However, by mutual agreement, we are happy to share meals and cooking with guests!

  We welcome everyone to our home, but especially young families with children are welcome! We would love to have kids playing together in our home. Our children's experience of cultural exchange is of crucial priority, which is why we hope that all those who come to us will enjoy being with the children.
