Beschreibung
We are a small parent-run home-school, with a girl and a boy, both age 14.
We love to host international guests that can spend some time with the kids and possibly teach them something interesting.
In our home-school we learn only for the pleasure of learning, without marks, punishments, school questionings or homeworks. We want to recover the original meaning of the word "school", derived from the Greek term "Scholé" (i.e. leisure time free from work, that could be devoted to one's own passions, including the "studium", the love for knowledge).
All the people involved in our project (parents, friends, relatives, teachers, educators, various guests, etc.) help the kids to cultivate their passions, self-esteem and enthusiasm for learning, so that they can trace their own path in learning and in life.
Our school is active in a big house surrounded by nature and amongst the green hills of the Langhe and Roero area (Unesco World Heritage Site).

You will be involved in our family file, and so you will be able to experience Italian lifestyle.
The hosting family owns a restaurant, we hope you will fall in love with the delicious food & wines of the Langhe and Roero area.

Arbeit
You will be asked to spend time with the kids, following their ordinary schedule and daily activities, mainly by speaking in English to them. Also, you may be in charge to organize some chores with them (i.e. cooking lunch and tidying up).
You are very welcome to organize some labs or activities with them, depending on your interests, skills and passions. It could be arts & crafts, sports, cooking, games, theatre, etc...
You will also be in charge of taking them for some day trips (to Turin or other place of historical/artistic interest), maybe with some preparation before (i.e. watch some documentaries about the places to be visited, or do some online research).

“We would like our guests to speak English with us, so that we can practice in a fun way. We welcome patient and nice people, possibly not shy, ready to help us and play with us too. We are very open to learn all sorts of things that you’d like to suggest us, provided it’s something you love, and something you’re good at. We are always ready to experience new stuff. Our school is in a very beautiful place, surrounded by woods and green hills. We can go for walks in the surroundings, but we also love to visit new places or museums. We look forward to meeting you!”

Unterkunft
The school is hosted by one of the families involved in the project.
All the meals will be provided for by the hosting family.
You will stay in an independent mini-flat (in the same building of the school), with your own independent entrance.
Wi-fi connection is available, but not very good. Mobile phone reception is poor.

We expect you to be an easygoing and active person, curious and open-minded, hopefully not shy, but happy to know new people and experience a new way of life, ready to live in a lively and noisy environment, not scared by the teens up-and-downs, eager to teach interesting things and always ready to learn something new. And, of course, you must love spending time with kids, and be happy to share your time and passions with them.

I taught English. The work was very enriching and I loved spending time with the children. They have varying levels of English, but most of them where very eager to learn.
