Tribal Learning Center is an indigenous school in the Ecuadorian rainforests of the Amazon, created for indigenous students, (both young and old). Its main task is to create culturally appropriate and relevant courses, producing indigenous students with knowledge and skills that are still rooted in their own Kichwa culture.

The current objectives here are to staff the tribal learning center with bilingual teachers (Spanish & English) and we are actively looking for people who have a medical background to help volunteer in the medical clinic.

Help us build and support the educational courses which allow indigenous knowledge, language, and cosmologies to be at the heart of the Tribal Learning Center educational experience.

All applicants must have an intermediate to advanced level of the Spanish language.

My name is Scott, I'm a Psychologist and also a Doctor of Complementary & Alternative Medical Therapies from the United States. Folks affectionately call me Dr. Scott. I have a unique background at the intersection of modern psychology, functional medicine, ancient spiritual tradition, and Amazonian shamanism.

As a volunteer myself, I've spearheaded the funding, construction, and development of the Tribal Learning Center for Culturally Rooted Education which included constructing a newly furnished, 15 desk schoolhouse complete with a professionally installed electrical supply for each of the 15 laptop computers, 4 ft x 6 ft whiteboard, LED Projector, high-speed internet service, and video security camera system to secure the laptops from theft. In addition, I've also completely replaced the electrical, water, internet systems, and laundry. Currently working on developing a tribal first-aid clinic.

With my background in building one of the largest shamanic wellness retreat centers in the world, (serving over 20,000 guests in 5 years), along with a team of devoted investors, friends, and volunteers, we are helping guide the tribal leadership toward economic recovery from the devastating past 2-year impact from the pandemic.

We need talented volunteers who can also help fine-tune the operations, best practices, and business marketing strategies of the retreat center for the tribe to become financially self-sustaining.

Help develop marketing resources that can help generate more business for the retreat center by improving our digital presence on the Internet through online and local marketing, social media, and digital magic!

The vision for the Learning Center is to build a collaborative learning community that supports the promotion and development of indigenous education; rooted in the knowledge systems and practices of their ancestors; and empower the indigenous people to prepare for the challenges of a modern world.

The Tribal Learning Center celebrates the strengths of all learners and promotes the growth of physical, social, emotional, language, literacy (including computer literacy), and academic skills for all community members, regardless of age, through the ongoing transmission of ancestral knowledge and worldviews that uphold their shamanic spiritual traditions, abundance, balance, resilience, adaptability, sustainability.

Teachers are needed to teach English, general education & computer literacy classes to Spanish & Kichwa speaking students who live in an indigenous community near Puyo, Ecuador (K-12 + Adults).

The aim of our bilingual classes is to help these students gain equal global advantages to the bilingual students in other parts of the world.

For the younger tribal members, the growth of cultural tourism has rekindled an interest in preserving their traditional ways of life.

Demonstrating the ways of their elders and ancestors to foreign (Typically English-speaking) travelers through rituals and customs generates tremendous pride and motivation for these younger tribal members to preserve their ancient way of life.

By being bilingual, the community can communicate better with those who have traveled from a foreign place. The tribal community can better interact with visitors and make the experience all the more amazing. By communicating with foreigners using their language, guests will get to learn more about tribal rituals and more details about the customs, local attractions, and activities/excursions in the Amazon, making a visitor’s trip more fascinating.

We are currently accepting applications for bilingual teachers at the Tribal Learning Center. If you’re interested in volunteering, please reach out to me. We provide basic room & board and other benefits are included.

Digital nomads welcome. Internet connection is amazing here! It's got multiple routers and point-to-point connections. Service is broken up into zones within the community. The internet connection in the trial learning center was configured for a high number of simultaneous users. Zoom connections are reliable. Only had a few issues with disruption of service because of bad lightning storms and service was disrupted for short periods. There are no cellular services in this area.
