Beschreibung
This is a place for nature lovers.
This place is close to great views and outdoor activities. You’ll love this place because of the outdoors space, the light, and the neighborhood. This place is good for couples/friends and solo adventurers.
Take a walk in the forest or along the Göta kanal. It is only 100 m to our own jetty by the canal so you can easily take a swim, or borrow a canoe or rowing boat. Follow the interesting work by the looks, only 10 min walk away.
Since there occasionally are tourist from all over the world staying here, you will have the opportunity to share cultural experiences with them, if you wish.
This is a place where you can be all for your self, enjoy silence and just relax.
We have lived here for more than 44 years, and we still look at the view and thank ourselves for the luck we have, living in this beautiful landscape. Born and grown up in Sweden but with foreign heritage - Jan from Norway and Kathleen from the US, both on our fathers side.
But now I live here alone since Kathleen passed away in 2025 after suffering severe illness for her last years.
Over the last 8 years we have had a large number of workawayers from almost 30 different countries, and it has been so interesting and uplifting to meet all these nice persons. The duration of stay has varied from 1- 12 weeks.
You will have your own space both indoors and outdoors. Also possible to be in absolute privacy outside (for sunbathing etc). Use the sauna by the water and other facilities as much as you want.
This is a place where you can experience silence - no traffic, surrounded by forest, fields and water. -

We live very close to the very old city of Söderköping, and here you can experience how life was lived in the middleage.
The nearby town of Norrköping offers many cultural events of different kinds.
The capital Stockholm is only 2 hours away. -

Arbeit
I would welcome some help to take care of the houses, like light general maintenance. Also help in the garden, mainly keeping grass cut and weeding.
I appreciate to have someone to prepare and cook the meals that we eat together.
I rent out accommodation for tourists and that involve some work like cleaning and such.
In wintertime we need to keep the fire burning in our furnace in order to provide heat to our houses. So some help with firewood is always needed.
The amount of workinghours is normally 2-3 hours per day.
When you help here I offer payment (150 SEK/hour). According to Workaway rules you would then have to pay for your own food. -

I offer accommodation in own just built modern ecohouse with all facilities, or in caravan with access to kitchen, WC and shower. Based on how many private guests we have at the moment, the accommodation is entirely individual or shared. Bedding etc is included. Free WiFi.
Bicycles are avaliable for excursions or shopping in the nearby city Söderköping -

Food is important, and therefor we try to eat as healthy as possible - mostly vegetarian, and of course echo. We eat all meals together in the main building where we also cook together (social cooking).
The main reason for why I am a host on Workaway, is that I want life in my house. Meet and spend time with positive people, hear stories, do things together and just enjoy. And of course work together when needed. -

We had Wilson with us for about 10 days, and we found him very nice as a person. Very interested in learning new things, and the swedish language. He fullfilled the tasks he was given with responsebility and accuracy. We enjoyed to have Wilson here as our guest, and which him the best luck in the future.

Ana and Mal stayed with us for two weeks, and we got so much help from them. Outdoor work with firewood handling, tuff job in the snow in what is later going to be a "forestpark" with treehouses. Painting in our newly extended yogahouse, snow showling, keeping the fire for heat going and a lot more. Thank you both of you!
