Her home is beautiful and cozy and we enjoyed cooking with her and her fresh vegetables. We were treated to a lot of apple crumble made with home grown apples and we were extremely happy for it.

I so much enjoyed getting to know her through our many conversations and finding so much in common in our experiences despite of our very different backgrounds. I learnt so much about the amazing work she has done with organic tea growers in Assam and also about organic farming through compost
… read more making and helping out with the garden. I also helped with stacking wood for winter, cutting grass, picking apples and covering paths with wood chips. The work was varied and communication about work was easy- the type of work could definitely be adapted to the skills and interests of the guest here. The cabin I stayed at was so beautiful and such a lovely place to stay in the woods. I would definitely recommend this as a place to work away on Vancouver Island. Time flies when you're having fun, and the week that Lena was here flew by very quickly - but what a productive and fun week it was! She's a strong, curious, hard-working helper who was happy to try out all kinds of different tasks, from mixing and pouring cement for new fence posts to transplanting tomatoes to creating beautiful rich compost

It was a delight to have her company and help, and I hope that we will have a chance to meet up again when she's passing through the Comox Valley. Definitely a 5-star helper!

I was lucky to spend an amazing week with Peggy during my travels along the west coast. We had so much fun together working on a big new pile of compost for the garden, planted more than 20 tomatoes in the greenhouses, fixed the fence including new cement holes and so many more exciting things. I learned a lot about gardening ;)
Besides the fun
… read more work, we connected so well and talked and shared many stories with each other. Peggy is such an inspiration and I am so grateful to have been able to get her garden ready for summertime! We had the opportunity to meet Peggy and all her community in may 2022 and there are no words to express our gratitude. Peggy hosted us as part of her family and we stayed with her for a few weeks, feeling like home. She shared with us his passion for his garden, and we learned new projects together. We shared work time together but community life too: going for hikes, farmer markets, friends meetings, and other amazing moments that will be forever in our hearts. The community in Merville has an amazing connection. We helped at different people's houses with wood splitting and got to know some interesting characters. The walls are beautiful and there is a swimming hole in the river nearby! We also went to a full moon drumming circle by the ocean with a friendly neighbour and Peggy took us up to mount Washington which was breath taking!
