Summer's finally arrived, and we're going to be looking for help with a range of projects include gardening, trail maintenance, painting, moving and stacking firewood, making compost, repairing fencing, etc.
I run a small, independent non-profit organization based on Vancouver Island, on the south coast of British Columbia. We've been bringing together enthusiastic people from Canada and northeast India to share information about traditional and organic farming practices for almost 20 years.
In exchange for your help, we can offer a quiet, beautiful place to stay and offer practical hands-on training in compost and compost "tea" production - and an opportunity to learn about traditional Vedic practices that help improve soil fertility and produce healthy and resilient plants.Arten von Hilfe und Lernmöglichkeiten

Here in the Comox Valley, there's a thriving & diverse agricultural community and weekly farmers markets. The I-Hos Gallery, an initiative of the K'ómoks First Nation, is open to the public and has on display a collection of masks, prints, jewelry and wood carvings from over 50 talented First Nation artists.
We have lots of interesting stories and photos to share that highlight the areas, cultures, traditional farming practices and people we work with in India - and we can help you make connections with organic farms, tea gardens, NGO's and other kindred spirits in Assam. We're particularly interested in introducing people from the Indian diaspora to some of the "movers and shakers" in the northeast!Arbeit
This summer, we'll periodically be looking for one or two kindred spirits to help with crops planted in the raised beds, weeding, repairing fencing, keeping up nearby forest trails and of course - making compost! That's one of our passions!
There are always things to do at main house and in the workshop. This might include interior and exterior painting, and help with a few carpentry jobs - basic carpentry skills would definitely be an asset. And if you enjoy cooking, that'd be an added bonus!Gesprochene Sprachen

The Comox Valley is located on the east side of Vancouver Island - about a 5 hour journey from the city of Vancouver (including a 1 3/4 hour long ferry ride!). There are several nearby islands also accessible by ferry, and lots of walking, bike-riding and hiking trails.
We're a 5 minute walk from the beautiful Tsolum River where you can cool off in the summer and watch the spawning salmon in the fall - and a 40 minute drive from Mount Washington, Strathcona Park and Paradise Meadows which provide a number of outdoor recreational opportunities.Etwas mehr Information
