Beschreibung
My name is Anna, I’m 33 years old, and I live with my 7-year-old daughter on a beautiful, old family sheep farm in the heart of Norway. The farm belongs to my mum, who is the farmer, but I do not work on the farm myself. I am a high school language teacher, and my daily life is separate from the farm’s operations.
We live in a large farmhouse, where there is also a separate apartment suitable for a helper. In addition, there are a few smaller, more rustic houses on the property for those who enjoy a simpler lifestyle and don’t mind being very close to nature. The surroundings are open and peaceful, with forests, mountains, and wide landscapes that really allow you to slow down and breathe. Life here is closely connected to the seasons and the rhythms of nature.
I have a few hobby animals of my own: ducks, a friendly dog, and a cat. The help I’m looking for is focused only on my personal projects, not farm work. This includes helping care for the dog and ducks, and assisting in my small garden for our own household use (planting potatoes, carrots, and other vegetables, and putting up simple fences to protect the garden). Tasks vary a little depending on the season and the weather, but the workload is generally hands-on and manageable alongside everyday family life.
What matters most to us is cultural exchange. We’re excited to welcome someone who is curious, open, and happy to share everyday life, conversations, and experiences as part of a family environment.
The local area is perfect for people who love the outdoors. There is easy access to hiking, skiing, fishing, horseback riding, ice skating in winter, and long walks all year round. This is a wonderful place for someone who enjoys fresh air, physical activity, and a slower, more grounded way of living — while being part of a warm, lived-in home rather than a working farm.

Kultureller Austausch und Lernmöglichkeiten
We love sharing what we know — about nature, animals, simple living, Norwegian food, literature, and family life — and we hope you will feel comfortable asking questions and trying new things. At the same time, we are very curious about you. We hope to learn about your culture, your language, your traditions, and your food. Sharing stories, cooking together, and exchanging perspectives is what makes hosting meaningful for us.
Our goal is that your stay here will not only teach you practical skills, but also give you a deeper understanding of Norwegian culture, nature-based living, and what it means to be part of a small rural community — while we learn just as much from you in return.

Arbeit
The help I need is varied, practical, and connected to everyday homesteading and family life, not to any commercial or farm-based projects. Tasks can change depending on the season, weather, and what needs doing around the home and garden. Some days you may work independently, while other days we do tasks together. Good communication and flexibility are important, and I will always explain tasks clearly.
Daily or regular tasks include helping care for my ducks (feeding, cleaning, and general care) and walking and caring for the dog. Gardening is a big part of the help, especially during spring and summer, and is focused entirely on growing food for our own household. This includes preparing soil, planting vegetables such as potatoes, carrots, and other seasonal crops, weeding, watering, harvesting, and general garden maintenance.
There are also small, practical projects around the home and outdoor areas. These may include putting up or repairing simple fences to protect the garden, building small and straightforward structures like pallet boxes or raised vegetable beds, and helping keep outdoor spaces tidy and cared for.
No professional skills are required. What matters most is a willingness to learn, use basic tools, work outdoors, and take responsibility for tasks. You should be comfortable around animals, enjoy physical activity, and feel able to work both independently and together as part of everyday family life.
Everything we do is on a small scale, rooted in self-sufficiency, learning, and sharing daily life — cultivating food we eat ourselves, caring for animals, and enjoying a slower, more grounded rhythm of living.

We would love to both learn and teach languages. I speak norwegian, english and spanish quit fluently, and I would love to practice these with the people we hoste. My daughter is also loving languages, and talking with kids is always a good way to start learning a new language.
Unterkunft
Small apartement for yourself. Kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and livingroom.
Meals are an important part of the exchange for us, and we see shared food as a nice way to connect and spend time together. We usually eat dinner together as a family, and this is often a relaxed moment to talk about the day, share stories, and enjoy home-cooked food. We hope that you will also enjoy cooking sometimes and sharing meals from your own culture with us.
Breakfast and lunch are more flexible. You can choose whether you prefer to eat these meals in your own apartment or together with us in the main house. We will provide all basic food items and ingredients needed for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, whether you are cooking for yourself or eating together with us.
The exchange follows the Workaway guidelines: up to 25 hours of help per week with two full days off, in return for accommodation and three meals a day (or ingredients provided). We aim for a relaxed, respectful arrangement where everyone feels comfortable, well fed, and part of the household.
