  Hello, I'm Karissa, my fiancé, John and I live in Siquijor island, we are free divers (he is actually an instructor at a local school here) and we are currently renovating/building our fixer upper new home in the forest side. We would love to host individuals (or couples!) who could give us a hand with the building / construction side of things. John is a carpenter by trade and he is very hands on with the project, he just needs a couple of people to help him out.
  
  Siquijor island is a beautiful and serene spot perfect for outdoorsy travelers, it is home to a multitude of marine sanctuaries which makes it the best place for diving or snorkeling (we have turtles that live at the reefs - guaranteed to see at least one every time you go there), everything is drivable by motorbike, we are 10 mins away from the beach and 10-20 mins away from the mountains, so you get the best of both worlds.
  
  We have a studio type unit available as your accommodation (though it is a slight fixer uper- which is also part of the renovation project we'd need your help with, but the bathroom runs well. We will provide photos so you get a clear picture) it comes with a full-size bed, so we have space for one individual or a couple (2 people).

  We would be happy to arrange some fun dives / snorkeling during the weekend breaks!
  
  As far as the local community, I am very involved with creating community events and we would be happy to have you come join our monthly gathering and invite you for art events (since our island is a budding ground for local and international artists) .

  We need help with the construction side of things - lending a helping hand doing construction, building, renovating, sometimes cooking as well. John and I are hands on, so we will be doing the work with you a well and guiding you along the way.

  Unterkunft

  Studio apartment type- full-size bed, private bathroom. The apartment is also part of the renovation project so when you get here we will also work on finishing the roofing and other minor renovations like painting and building a kitchen in the studio and of course furnishing it completely.
  
  I love to cook so I will be providing the meals during the duration of your stay - we will provide all the ingredients and food but help cooking would be nice every once in a while when I am not available to cook.

  For transport, it is best you rent a motorbike as public transportation is quite rare, no taxis and sometimes there are tuktuks but the availability is scarce (the motorbike costs 5,000 Pesos per month, we can help make the arrangements).
  
  Working hours can be 4-5 hours in the morning and after lunch you are free to explore the island, go to the beach, go snorkeling or diving, visit the caves, explore the mountains. Siquijor is also known in the Philippines to be an island of traditional healers, so you can also checkout the herbalist and traditional healers as well.

  We have dogs around our property, they're quite friendly with other dogs so we can accept other dogs, cats might be a bit of a problem though.
