Hello!
We are returning to Spain after living in Nairobi, Kenya for two and a half years, where I've worked at one of the UN headquarters located there.
We are a family of three: I’m Carmela, originally from Spain, and have two daughters—Candela (14) and Amanda (9). We live in San Lorenzo de El Escorial, a charming town located about 40 minutes by bus from Madrid. It’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site, surrounded by nature and full of history.
Due to our international experience, both of my daughters are bilingual in English and Spanish. I would love for them to maintain their fluency in English, so we are looking for someone who could support us with that, ideally someone who speaks English as mother tongue and enjoys spending time with children. They are also both learning French, so it would be wonderful if you have some knowledge of French and could help them practice in a fun and relaxed way.
Your help would include light childcare tasks—mainly helping with Amanda: taking her to school, assisting with homework, going for walks or playing together. Candela is more independent but would also enjoy occasional interaction in English.
In exchange, we offer you a private room with your own bathroom in our home. On weekends, we enjoy going out to explore the surrounding area, and you’re more than welcome to join us—or feel free to use your time off as you prefer.
If you have a driving license, that would be fantastic—it would give you more flexibility and would also be a great help from time to time.
Because of my job, I’m very used to sharing space with people from different cultures, and as a family, we truly enjoy welcoming new people into our lives and learning from different experiences.
We’d be happy to hear from you!Arten von Hilfe und Lernmöglichkeiten

Arbeit
I would need your support mainly in the mornings, helping Amanda get ready for school and joining us on the car ride. In the afternoons, you would need to help with the pick up from school as well. it would be great if you could spend some time with them—playing, reading, and especially practicing English ( you also know a bit of French or German, that would be a wonderful bonus!). Our goal is to speak English as the main language at home.
The girls start school at 9:00 AM and finish around 3:00 PM, with lunch provided at school only for Amanda
We have someone who helps with household chores, so we don’t expect you to take on those responsibilities. That said, we do ask for your support with small daily tasks—like tidying up, or helping the girls put away their things.
If you enjoy cooking and wouldn’t mind helping out in the kitchen, that would be lovely too!Sprachen

Was noch ...
You can use your time off however you like. During the day our former workawayer volunteered in a school in a slum near-by. We can help you to find a working/volunteering opportunity for you. On the weekends you can do lots of weekend/day trips from Nairobi. For example visit the Nairobi national park, Maasai Mara, Mombasa or even the Victoria Lake. There are also interesting activities in or around the city, such as Street Art tours, hiking trips or visiting Maasai villages. In general there is a lot to do and see and Nairobi is the perfect place to meet new people and cultures.

I've spent three months with this lovely family and already feel like I'm part of it. From the first day I arrived I was welcomed as a friend and invited to take part in the family life.
