**Update November 24th, 2025**
WE ARE LOOKING FOR A MECHANIC/JANITOR FOR OUR RESORT IN BRITISH COLUMBIA
The Resort has a position available as a Mechanic/Janitor, starting in early spring 2026. We are looking for a trained mechanic (or equivalent) who is also willing to do other things.
We are advertising this position for young people (up to the age of 35) who can obtain a Visa under the International Experience Canada (IEC) program or have another valid work visa for Canada.
Please check if that applies to you.
Are you good at DIY and practical handiwork?
Do you like working independently and enjoy putting your ideas into practice?
Do you like being outdoors?
Can you drive and operate heavy equipment?
Do you want to discover new countries and meet new people?
Can you imagine living and working in the wilderness in Canada?
Then you are the right person for us!
What can you do with us?
The resort is on a 60-hectare property in an undeveloped wilderness. No public utilities exist, so we are entirely self-sufficient in electricity, heat, and water.
The buildings have been built, the infrastructure is in place and all the pipes are laid in the ground.
The cabins are already being rented out to guests.
Our horses and dogs run around freely on the property.
Now we need someone to help us maintain the resort, carry out repairs, and implement new projects. Your responsibilities include:
- Maintenance and repair of generators and other stationary equipment with ICE’s.
- Perform on-site servicing, and maintenance of all vehicles (cars, trucks, quads, etc.) and other heavy machinery on site (excavator, grader, farm tractor, etc.).
- Care of the septic system and the sanitary facilities
- General janitorial work such as cleaning, painting, gardening, waste disposal, etc.
- Troubleshoot, check, and repair electric, mechanical, and electro-mechanical equipment and systems like motors, wirings, connections, bearings, shafts, and gears.
- Replace electric, mechanical, and electro-mechanical components like motors, control units, pumps, and piping.
- Test and repair or replace faulty wiring or components in electric, mechanical, and electro-mechanical equipment.
- Test repaired equipment to ensure proper performance.
- Install electrical wirings, pull wire through conduits and through holes in walls and floors.
- Sawing and stacking firewood, keeping stoves running.
You should bring the following qualifications:
- Completion of a one- or two-year program in an electro/mechanical field is required.
- Willing to work and (if necessary) move to a rural area in the beautiful West Chilcotin
- A minimum of 1 year of related work experience is required.
- Ability to work efficiently and effectively in an evolving and rural environment.
- Communicate in English and in German (as an asset)
- Detail-oriented and hard-working, Critical thinking, Problem-solving, decision making, Job task planning and self-organizing, significant use of memory.
The position is full-time (40 hours/week, weekend work possible).
The pay is $18.60 per hour, including public holiday pay, plus 4% vacation pay.
Free staff accommodation is available (small cabin with shared bathroom and kitchen) and pets are welcome.
The resort is located on the Chilcotin Plateau, just outside of Anahim Lake, right on the Dean River. Having your own car is highly recommended, as there are no buses/trains here and the nearest major city is 320 km away.
The team likes horseback riding, swimming, camping or hiking in their free time.
It is essential to know that your living costs are significantly lower in our remote area than in a city like Vancouver or an area with more extensive infrastructure. All these points make it attractive to keep your savings and enjoy numerous benefits, too, such as our beautiful nature.
After your shifts or during your weekends, you have time to do a lot of sightseeing, hike, relax at the lake, go fishing in the canoe or you can ride one of our horses after consultation with our horse trainer—access to surrounding nature and trails such as to the famous Chilcotin Rainbows Mountains. Everything is possible out here. Not to be forgotten are our staff events, such as our popular pizza party! Having the time of your life is guaranteed!
If you are suitable for this job and would like to work in almost untouched nature, where elk and grizzly bears are around, we look forward to receiving your application by email.

Hi there,
We are an adventure Resort in one of the most pristine parts of BC's coastal mountains. In the Chilcotin, you will find everything nature has to offer, from salmon-fishing grizzlies in the boreal coastal rain forest to one of the best winter playgrounds for snowshoeing, sledding, etc. in the rainbow mountains and virtually everything in between.
This is a beautiful place to enjoy nature and a quiet yet active lifestyle. The Resort runs on solar power (although there is a backup generator), so everybody has to be conscious of how much energy they use.
Our herd of 11 horses roams free on the property and might greet you in the morning in front of your cabin! We are also very dog-friendly. Our three dogs run free on the big property.
Before contacting us, please know this location is very remote. It isn't easy to get around if you don't have a car. Even with a car, the closest bigger town (Williams Lake) is a 3.5-hour drive away. We usually only go there every few weeks to stock up on groceries, which takes some getting used to but is a great way to save money.
There is interrupted cell service here and limited internet access. The resort is not a place for anybody who likes to go to clubs every weekend or who needs to go to a supermarket every week. If, on the other hand, you enjoy (ice)fishing, hiking, cutting firewood, and having a beer while watching the sunset, this is a beautiful place.
Our minimum stay is usually three months. We prefer volunteers who are at least 20 years old or older (couples are welcome). The number of workers at the Resort varies throughout the year. Usually, there are at least two and up to 5, but you should be comfortable working and spending time alone when coming to such a remote place. There is a fantastic community of people in the area, though, and anyone who stays a few weeks discovers that this makes this place truly special.

Arbeit
In addition, we are always looking for skilled helpers. Whether your are a carpenter, electrician, dry waller, tile setter or mechanic, there will be something for you to do (although it may not always be exclusively in your trade, everyone helps with whatever needs to be done). Occasionally, we also accept construction helpers (workers with only a little experience in construction but who are willing to learn). If your skills lean more into office administration, give us a shout as we are also always looking for Tourist assistants and office administrators.
All positions are paid as stated above.
Please note that you need to hold a valid work visa in order to work here, no matter the position.

We are located in a very remote area with only limited cell reception and no public transportation. It would be beneficial to have your own means of transportation to really enjoy everything this area has to offer. We can pick you up in Williams Lake, BC (320km one way), but we are not able to provide transportation during your time off.

Platz zum Abstellen von Camper Vans
We have a few spaces where you could park a small or medium-sized RV or campervan. We don't have any hookups, but of course a kitchen and bathroom for you to use. Please note that the roads around the Resort are usually muddy or snowy from October until April/May, so having a AWD/4x4 vehicle with sufficient ground clearance is an asset.

We are happy to accept workawayers with dogs, as long as they are well behaved and get along with other dogs.

Alberich
Alberich is a basset hound, and you can't help but love him. Nothing is cuter than a running Albi with his ears flapping. He has a very friendly nature, is always curious, but also enjoys taking a nap now and then.
Wotan
Wotan is a mixed breed, likely with some larger, heavier dog breeds in his lineage. He is very lively, friendly, and affectionate. It's clear he has a lot of strength.
