Beschreibung
I just purchased a kominka (old farmhouse) in the town of Ōmachi in the Azumino / Hakuba valley area nestled in the foothills of the Japanese Northern Alps. It needs a lot of organising and cleaning as well as some gardening. This house is for my family’s personal use, and your help would be greatly appreciated. If you love the outdoors this town has phenomenal access to trails, climbing areas, and is just a half-day trip out from Tokyō.

You'll more than likely run into the elders around in the neighborhood and tag along to the local stores that have been around for multiple generations.
I am a freelance carpenter and have learned most of the tradeskills through DIY or building camper vans.
I have backpacked South America and Europe, Couchsurfed and done a few Workaways, and crossed paths with beautiful walks of life. Part of wanting to do this is to return the favor, as I have promised myself I would do one day when I had the opportunity.

Mostly looking for a good attitude and not for someone that is looking for just free accommodation.
The tasks are mainly cleaning and organising. The house came with a lot of the previous owners belongings, so we will be sifting through things to keep, things to donate or sell, and things to throw away. I would like to do a deep clean and get rid of as much dust as possible. We'll be wiping down the ceiling and walls, and pulling up the tatami to clean beneath it.
I also have a small plot of land that is overgrown with weeds. I would like to turn it into a vegetable garden.
I also hope to do meals together. I eat vegan and will provide local vegetables and produce. For our omnivore friends, you are welcome to purchase your own protein and make for yourself.
I may have work some days and will leave instructions or demonstrate how to do the tasks.Sprachen

Can get here one of 3 ways, in order of fastest but almost most expensive:
1) Shinkansen to Nagano Station then bus to Shinano Ōmachi station
2) express Azusa from Tokyō Shinjuku ( leave once per day at 8:00 am )
3) highway bus to Nagano or Matsumoto city, bus from Nagano city or train from Matsumoto to Shinano Ōmachi
My house is about a 10-15 min walk from Shinano Ōmachi station. If you want to travel light, you may forward your luggage via courier service to my address.
Within walking distance to the local train stations and town micro buses. Can easily visit Matsumoto, Hakuba, or Nagano on a day trip. I also have bikes you may borrow to scoot around town. Can provide recommendations with hikes, eats and other activities in the area. Will provide all this info when you get here!Etwas mehr Information
