We are a smallholding near Bridgend, recently purchased and being lovingly restored after years of neglect. The farmhouse was originally built in the 17th century and adjacent to a ruined Manor House. We have 40 acres including 12 acres of woodland and the rest is pasture. Currently we’ve got 50 pedigree Hampshire down sheep, ducks, geese, chickens and dogs.
We’re in the the middle of a massive restoration project including lots of building work and repairing all the fencing so need a bit of help to keep the place ticking over. The farm is owned and run by John with part-time help from grown-up daughter katy who lives 30 mins away.

Volunteers can learn about general life on our smallholding. John is from a farming family and has been farming for his whole life (over 60 years) so has a wealth of knowledge to share. He is a skilled craftsman and builds, restores and repairs many buildings, fences and machines. He has travelled extensively through Australia and New Zealand and loves to share stories with other travellers.
John requires general help around the home and garden, cooking, cleaning and entertaining the very friendly dogs. He also needs support with the many restoration projects around the farm, experience not necessary as every little helps.
Double room in the main farmhouse with use of shared bathroom.
Non-smokers only! Full clean drivers licence advisable. Must be ok with dust, as we’ve created a lot due to the restoration work. This is a working sheep farm, our livelihood is derived from the rearing of sheep for meat, any persons staying with us must be ok with this.
The bus stop is at the lane end and provides a good link to Bridgend, our nearest town 4 miles away. Cardiff, Swansea & the South Wales heritage coastline and the Gower peninsula are all easily accessible.
