    Hello, future Workawayers!

My name is Ryo, and I am based in [Tokyo Japan]. I am currently looking for motivated and reliable helpers to support me with a few personal and household projects. This is a private hosting opportunity, not a business, and the atmosphere here is relaxed yet organized.

    About Me
Beyond hosting Couchsurfers and managing Workaway, my interests are both diverse and deeply focused, spanning anime, rhythm games, video games, and language acquisition/application. I am currently fluent in English and Japanese, and am fully dedicated to advancing my German skills. On the technical side, I specialize in the teardown, repair, and custom assembly of digital gadgets and home appliances (Hardware DIY). Visually, I am a part-time photographer with 9 years of experience. Having worked and studied in Japan for 6 years while frequently visiting Taiwan, I have significantly sharpened my cross-cultural communication skills and developed a profound interest in—and study of—Japanese, Taiwanese, and German cultures.

In 2019, I embarked on my very first trip to Taiwan as a Couchsurfer. Even though I was young and lacked experience back then, I was deeply moved by the incredible hospitality of the Taiwanese hosts. In 2022, I transitioned into a host myself. Since then, I have hosted over 120 travelers across various platforms (including around 24 from Germany and 14 from China).

Having shed the initial "rose-tinted glasses" of hosting, I choose to remain active in this community, though my hosting style has evolved to be more rational and mature. I highly value genuine connections and high-efficiency communication.

    🙌 What I Welcome:
    Digital Nomads & Cyclists

    Pets Allowed / Pet-Friendly

    Vegetarians (Vegetarian Friendly)

Families (Children aged 9 and above are welcome to accompany)

Drivers / Car Owners (Parking space provided)

Last-minute Requests OK / Emergency Applications OK

Here’s what I am looking for:

    * If you meet any of the following, you’re welcome to apply.*!

1.Back-of-House & Light Manual Labor in Japan:
If you have a foundational knowledge of Japanese and feel comfortable handling basic shopping or simple, everyday conversations, I have some light manual labor and back-of-house tasks that could use your assistance.

    2. A Natural Connection with Children: If you have a knack for engaging with kids, we’d love to have your energy here! We are looking for someone patient and creative to join in on playtime, educational exploration, and reliable care, making daily routines feel like an adventure.

    3. Language Teaching: Do you love sharing the gift of language? Whether it’s tutoring children or helping adult learners, if you are passionate about education and have a structured or creative way to share your knowledge of English or other languages, we’d love to collaborate.

    4. I’m looking for someone with a background in mindfulness, meditation, or emotional wellness to join and contribute in a non-clinical, experience-sharing setting.

This opportunity is ideal for someone who has experience in:
    • yoga, meditation, or breathwork
    • non-clinical emotional support or peer-based counseling training
    • mindfulness-based education or self-awareness practices

Please note: This is not a clinical or therapy-based position. It’s intended as a peer-to-peer exchange, where we can share personal tools, practices, and insights related to well-being and self-growth in a relaxed, respectful environment.
A Little Note to Future Travelers:

    5.House Cleaning Support
Assistance with general cleaning tasks around the house would also be very helpful — things like vacuuming, dusting, organizing, and occasional deep-cleaning if needed.

Couples are warmly invited: We celebrate the joy of shared travel and warmly welcome couples to apply together.

Last-minute travelers are welcome: Life on the road is full of surprises! If you find yourself in need of a warm, welcoming home at the last minute, please do reach out. If I have the space, I am more than happy to open my doors to you.

    Working Hours & Meals
The total time will not exceed 180 minutes (3 hours) per day, 5 days a week, and tasks will be divided according to priorities and your unique skill set. I aim to keep everything fair and manageable, ensuring you have plenty of free time to explore and enjoy the area.

If you are interested in a more comprehensive exchange, we also offer the option of full-board (three meals a day). Should you choose this arrangement, the daily contribution will be up to 5 hours a day, 5 days a week. We take great pleasure in local food culture and would love to share it with you—please feel free to let me know in advance if there are any specific Japanese dishes or local specialties you’ve been dreaming of trying!

    What You Can Expect

    What You Can Expect
    A Purposeful & Respectful Environment
I believe that a successful exchange is built on mutual respect and clear communication. You can expect a home where expectations are transparent, feedback is always welcomed, and your contributions—whether they be teaching, movement training, or household care—are genuinely valued.

    A Balanced Pace of Life
I value the "work hard, play hard" philosophy. Your tasks are organized to be fair and manageable, leaving you with plenty of quality free time. Whether you choose the 3-hour daily contribution or the immersive 5-hour full-board exchange, my goal is to ensure you never feel overextended, allowing you to fully enjoy your stay.

A Deep Dive into Local Life
This isn't a hotel experience; it’s a cultural bridge. By staying here, you’ll gain a perspective of the region that goes beyond the typical tourist path. From the quiet, authentic residential charm of Hasama to the vibrant pulse of central Tokyo just a short train ride away, you will experience the balance of Japanese daily life.

    A Safe & Reliable Base
You will have your own private, comfortable space to recharge. My home is a secure, well-maintained environment where you can feel at ease, whether you are here for a short-term cultural boost or a longer stay.

If you have any specific skills, teaching methods, or experience you'd like to share, please feel free to mention them in your message. I would be happy to hear more about you and what you could bring to this exchange.

    Looking forward to welcoming you!

    Best regards,
    Ryo

    Cultural Exchange and Learning Opportunities

As a Workawayer staying with me, you will have the chance to experience daily life in Tokyo, learn about the local culture, and enjoy a welcoming and respectful environment.

While supporting me with language learning, appliance setup, and home organization, you will also have the opportunity to:

Practice communication and teaching skills in a real-life setting.

Exchange ideas about language learning techniques, cultural habits, and practical life skills.

Experience the everyday rhythm of life here — from home living to small local discoveries.

Share your own culture, language, and experiences, and learn from mine as well.

I believe that hosting is a two-way experience. I am always curious to hear about different perspectives and enjoy learning from Workawayers' backgrounds, travels, and stories. I hope we can create an environment of mutual learning, respect, and personal growth.

If you are interested in languages, cultural exchange, and practical collaboration, this will be a rewarding and positive experience for both of us.
