  Beschreibung

  We are a small organization founded by two young men passionated in cycling and in love with their land.
  
  The first organization we founded is this association specialised in the promotion of sustainable mobility and cycliing tourism. We do believe that the bicycle is a powerful tool to talk about climate change, to be healthy, free and active in our life, to explore a new place!
  At the moment we lead a Tour operator which offers daily and weekly bike tour in Puglia. Our tour are completely unique (we mapped it) and they go through naturalistic, cultural and enogastronomic beautiness of our land. Our guests come mainly from north Europe and we are very active from the end of March to the beginning of November. At the moment the team si based on 5 person who works permanently (Carlo, Tiziana, Giorgia, Younes and my self Giulia) and on the high season we became at least 8. We are aged between 31 and 44 years old.
  
  Our mission is also about trying to create a positive impact at local level : we collaborate with local institutions, we support agricolture organizations, no profit organizations, people that share with us the value of environmentalism and slow mobility. So we organize workshop in the school, bike excursion with local people, meeting and conferenze about these themes. We hope in a better world, so we try to do our small part. At the moment we are active in an informal group that work in promoting cycling in the city of Lecce (LECCE PEDALA) and we belong to national network.

  Volunteer will be in touch with a team of local people who loves their land, so they can get many cultural info (that is also part of our job) and social experience (if there is a good relations we enjoy to involve volunteers in our everyday life and friends relations). As we host cyclist from all around the world, so there is the opportunity to meet several cultures.
  About competence and skills: we believe in learning by doing 'cause this has been our style: we have funded our company without any previous experience or specific background in cycling tourisme. So we keep on learning by doing every day.
  At the moment we have 12 years of experience in : travel agency management, promoting bike tour, manage 1 day bike tour, manage 1 week bike tour, fixing bike (general maintenance), groups leading and guiding.
  
  We are happy to share our competences according also with volunteers need and attitudes.

  Arbeit

  Main activities for volunteers:
  
  From end of March to mid of November (except july and august) we are in high season. The activities are mainly:
  team meeting, bike maintenance and cleaning, customer assistances, bike equipment management and cleaning, space maintenance. Assiste during bike tour, carrying up bikes and luggages, eventually van transportation (if drive licence). If needed and according with single attitude of volunteer we might ask also some office work.
  
  We have also the office part where we can share work about tourism marketing and promotion. We are interested in people who know languages and want to know more about promotion. Graphic skills are also appreciated.
  
  We do work in a friendship environment, we appreciate flexibility in terms of volunteering time and solidarity with colleagues.
  
  We do always provide a bike to be more independent in the town of Lecce.

  Unterkunft

  According with the work season and with the availability of staff house, the accomodation can be, in Lecce in the apartment of one of us but with independent room (single or double) . You will share kitchen, laundry and bathroom.

  Was noch ...

  Salento is in the most south-eastern region of Italy lying in the so-called "heel of the boot". Situated in the centre of the Mediterranean Sea, this region is filled with memories of the different civilizations that inhabited it, from the Messapii, to the Greeks, followed by the Romans and then the Normans. Crossing Salento with a bicycle is like cycling through an open-air museum. Prehistoric Dolmen, Byzantine shrines hidden in the caves, Baroque cathedrals, exclusive corners of the coast... are all but a few of the things you can see when visiting this area.
  Salento is famous worldwide for its traditional cuisine, which combines marine and earth flavours, and for its wine production, particularly of Primitivo and Negramaro grapes. Its unique combinations will delight all food and wine lovers. Come with open hurt and discover it!
  
  In salento is not easy to move with public means of transport. There are local trains but they are slow, often late and they don't work in the night, or in the festivity. We'll provide a bike to the volunteer and we advice/support in biking around the area of Salento. Life in Lecce is very nice, 'cause is a university city, small and alive. So if you'll stay in Lecce there is a lot to discover and enjoy!
