Beschreibung
We‘re a young German family staying in Cape Town for a research stay. Our family consists of Lili (24), Nico (30) and our daughter Maia (2). We love cultural exchange and meeting new people. Even as parents we still like to live a bit of adventure, that’s why we will go to South Africa. Cape Town seems to be the perfect city: beach, mountains for beautiful hikes, different cultural history and amazing restaurant culture.
Our preferred time frame is 20th of September - 10th of October 2025.

With joining us, you can definitely improve your German skills (if you’re not already a native speaker). In the afternoons, we also plan to explore Cape Town with it’s various cool things to do (table mountain cable car ride and hike with breathtaking views, Boulders Beach with penguins super close, monkey island, the vinyards, waterfront with the Ferris wheel…) and you could join us on the ride there with our own car. Without car, you would need to take an Uber but the rates there are very cheap (around 3€ for a 20 min ride). Eating at restaurants is equally cheap too which is great if you’re a foodie like us. :)
Arbeit
We're looking for someone to babysit our 2-year old daughter while we work on our research projects. The time frame would be from around 8 am to 12 am and you can play with her at our apartment with one of us in reach (working in another room) in case you need support. You could of course go for little trips with our daughter too e.g. going to the park, playground or the beach. Kind of like an aupair but with shorter hours.
Es wäre wichtig, dass du Deutsch verstehst und ein bisschen sprechen kannst, da unsere Tochter gerne verstanden werden möchte und ansonsten frustriert ist, wenn man nicht auf ihre Aussagen reagiert. Wenn du Muttersprachlerin bist, ist das natürlich super, aber auch zum Deutsch lernen ist das sicher eine super Gelegenheit.

Unterkunft
We have our own rented bnb which has two bedrooms and a living room with the kitchen. One of the bedrooms could be yours, it has its private bathroom too. :) The apartment is in pinelands which is a district known for its safety, green parks and being very family friendly. If you want to experience more of the party life, you would have to take an Uber there. Also important to know: If you want to buy alcohol, you can’t do that in this district (but of course you can buy it in the city centre).
We like to eat mostly vegetarian. We could cook and eat together if our time plans match up or you could cook your own meals from food we have in the fridge - of course we can buy what you need and like when grocery shopping. The kitchen in the apartment is well equipped. :)

Since you will join our family to help us with childcare it is especially important that you like children and ideally have some experience with children at this age (2 years old). You also have to speak some level of German. If you’re female that would be a bonus since our daughter is a bit more shy with men at the beginning. We would love to have a FaceTime call before securing your stay at our place because personal liking and compatibility with Maia is important. It might also be nice for you to get to know us beforehand. ;)
