  Beschreibung

  With us you can get involved in 2 different projects on the same place, on the one hand in organic farming and on the other hand in a contemporary art project.
  
  I have travelled a lot and got to know many different places and people. Now I am happy to welcome people from all over the world to my home. Why Workaway? In the past I was very involved in a cultural project in czech republic and I am in close contact with the people there. I saw there how beautiful and enriching it was to invite Workaways there to exchange, live and work together.
  
  I am an artist and organic farmer and run the farm together with my parents. My farm has also fishponds and once a year in July, I organise an art exhibition with artist friends. Artists come for a while and realise site specific art, from land art to installation and performance. In August and September people can visit the exhibition venue for free.
  
  We would welcome you to the farm, which is over 200 years old. It has a beautiful location on a hill, surrounded by very old orchards and the organically farmed fields. The ponds are just down the hill of the farm.
  The atmosphere on the farm is warm and family-like, my parents live on the farm, a young couple with a dog and my nieces and nephews often visit and in July we have some artists as guests.

  Kultureller Austausch und Lernmöglichkeiten

  If you come to our farm, you will gain experience in organic farming and have the opportunity to experience parts of the production cycle of food, from sowing to care, harvesting to processing and to a finished dish. On the other hand, you can meet exciting international artists, exchange ideas and network at the art and culture project.
  
  St Florian near Linz is also home to one of the largest monastery complexes in Austria, with exciting historical collections, and especially in classical music there is a large range of events, which can be traced back to St Florian as the place where the famous composer Anton Bruckner worked. Despite the rather rural location, it has a good bus connection to Austria's third largest city Linz (25min by bus), so you can enjoy the Austrian nature and also experience the urban culture. In Linz there are numerous museums and theatres, as well as many music and art & cultural events.

  Arbeit

  If you come to us as a workaway, you can expect an exciting combination of agriculture and art and culture work.
  
  On the farm, depending on the season, there is work around the farm, in the orchard, vegetable garden, planting vegetables, weeding, harvesting fruit and vegetables, producing apple juice, pickling vegetables. This is for self-supply and art project participants. Other fruits grow in the fields, such as sunflowers, ancient cereals, pumpkin, soya, etc., which are sold to other farmers and local mills and this work is done by heavy machines, so no help with this fruits needed. The farm is a large quadrangle and there is regular maintenance work.
  
  
  The art and culture project project exist since 5 years, is a non profit project and is creating an artpark on the area of our fishponds. In July come artist to the place to create site specific art and at the end of the month we celebrate with a vernissage the outcome. You would support us in looking after the artists, cooking, as well as helping with the implementation and construction of the art installations. The tasks are very diverse, from communication to crafts. So you get an insight into different areas and can look behind the scenes of the art and culture world and gain (first) experience in this field. You can also expect an exciting exchange with international artists and the ponds are a nice place to swim and relax. At the ponds, you can help with the maintenance of the grounds all year and to take care of visitors in August and September.
  
  
  I will be happy to train you for all the work, you don't need any previous experience, but of course it can't hurt if you already have some experience in these areas.
  
  The work on the farm and the art projcet are non profit activities only and offer very varied activities where you can also contribute yourself and your skills and have the opportunity to learn a lot of new things.

  Unterkunft

  You have a large room to yourself, as well as your own bathroom. It is quiet and cosy.
  During the artproject it is possible to camp at the pond. The ponds are just down the hill of the farm and I can provide you with a bike or we drive together between the spots.
  
  We can provide 3 meals a day.

• 

  Was noch ...

  We like to cook and eat together often, if you eat vegetarian or vegan that's also very welcome. There is a washing machine that you are welcome to use and also wifi at the farm. You can just come and feel at home.
  
  St. Florian has 2 supermarkets, a post office, several restaurants (one with a large vegan menu) and is well connected to Linz by public transport (25min by bus). The farm is 3km from the bus stop and I can provide you with a bike.
