Alexandra and Niklas lived and worked at my home for three and a half weeks in the summer of 2022. We had a great time together! They were a very friendly and dynamic duo. Used to farm working, all tasks were performed efficiently and with ease. Alex was the practical organizer, and Niklas was the creative one, finding solutions to all kinds of
… read more problems. They were both mature for their young age, and they knew very well what they wanted to be their lifelong task in Austria, and how to go about doing it, after this period of having a good time working and living in other countries.
Niklas and Alexandra worked outdoors a couple of hours every morning. They were cutting grass, maintaining the road, fixing old tools, repairing the chicken shed. Niklas had a special talent in digging up roots, and Alexandra was an expert with the chickens and the cats. In the afternoon they worked in the house, cleaning and making dinner. They made delicious meals from Austria, and they picked berries and made yoghurt in the evening to use for breakfast next morning.
All in all a wonderful experience for me. You gave me excellent help, and you were excellent company! I will never forget the evenings we watched The Viking series on TV together! I wish you all the best for the future, and hope to see you again some day!

On Saturdays we went to the second hand shop of the country, where we bought lots of really cheap souvenirs.
It was a wonderful experience that helped us to learn some tasks never done before and to improve many others.

When Alex was making his delicious, Italian dinners and deserts on my little wood stove, Lucia was sitting at the kitchen table, figuring out all kinds of information on her computer, that they would use in their outdoor work in the garden next day. And when I went to bed after dinner, they often stayed in the kitchen, warming themselves by the stove and just making some little extra to eat or drink.
Lucia is an animal lover, and my cats and chickens really enjoyed her care. Having Alex and Lucia in my home was just a deeply pleasant and harmonious experience. Wishing them all the best!

Martin lived at my place in january-february 2022.
He was polite, friendly, and interested in learning new things. He helped me outdoors as well as indoors, and did both the road-work and the chopping / sawing wood very well. His cooking got better and better during the stay, and he made several delicious dishes using recipies from his family in
… read more Germany. I was lucky to get some of those recipies.
While he was befriending my kitchen wood stove, preparing most of the dinners there, I often sat by the kitchen table knitting. We talked with each other about important - and sometimes not so important - happenings in our lives, in our countries, and in the world. We always ended the dinner with a cup of herb tea and one of his wonderful Christmas cookies.
As the fire died down in the stove after dinner, Martin often sat down with the piano and practiced for an hour or so. I will never forget Debussy!

I spent the last 2 months at Evas wonderful place and can say that it was absolutely worth it! Eva welcomed me very warm and I immediately felt like I was at home. She lives alone at her quiet farm next to a beautiful lake I could rowed and kayaked on whenever I wanted and the weather allowed it.
I helped Eva mainly with maintaining the road
… read more (digging ditches and filling the potholes) as well as chopping and sawing wood for the little wood stove in the kitchen. In the evening I also prepared the dinner mostly on that wood stove, which was an exciting experience. After a while you find out how hot it is. :)
The working hours were rather moderate, I had a lot of free time to explore the wonderful surroundings, walking and running in the forest and baking Christmas cookies for our mutual joy. ;)
Occasionally some of her lovely family visited us and had a busy time or we visited them on the other side of the fjord (which is quite big there).
I would definitely recommend you Evas place if you like stunning nature, quietness, cooking, baking and interesting conversations about life!
I am sure I will visit you again in summer, Eva. Perhaps the staircase is finished then! :)Feedback

… read more dishes, Eva's sister lives next door and is very friendly. You can swim in the lake with her (no matter the temperature!) or she can show you all the caves around. I also met her little family who can come on weekends. They put a lot of energy in the house and are really nice people to talk to. I often go to watch the sunset on the lake in the canoe, it is really beautiful.
You can go to Eva with your eyes closed, she is a very wise, kind and caring person.
