Way too fast my stay at Randy's place passed. It was a big blast and I would do it again, that's for sure.
As I was only riding english in past I learned western riding at Randy's. He is a excellent teacher and I was able to make fast progress. After 2 months I was able to ride with the other riders at his weekly sortings. Aswell I did some
… read more cattlework at his brother's Ranch and went for outrides by myself. I think every rider if beginner or experienced can learn a lot at this place. I was riding almost every day.
The work part was in general not to bad. Of course there are some daily chores and all the animals (chickens, dogs, cats and horses) want to be fed and watered. Exept this Randy has a nice garden were sometimes is something to do and help in the household is aswell much appreciated. Then there are some other things need to be done like fencing, catching horses or tidying up the shed. There is no day like another but in general I can say most of days are very balanced with work and leisure time.
Randy himself is one of the most unique and pleasant person I've ever met. He will treat you as a true friend not only like a worker. You will be part of his family and friends and there is always a lot of fun around his place. Aswell he himself has a good sense for humor but be aware of jokes, he will get you😉
You can trust Randy whatever kind of problem you might have he tries to help you. Aswell he often takes you with him when he goes somewhere.
His place is situated about 20 minutes from Vanderhoof and surrounded beautiful nature. Usually Randy has weekly sortings/pennings and some events. You won't get the feeling of lonelyness.
Even after my stay Randy was there for me, asked me how I am doing and I was able to stay the night before my flight back home at his friend's place in Vancouver. Randy really wants the best for you and that you can live your life to the fullest. I just can say again thanks Randy for this amazing stay. I had the best time in my life, made good friends, laughtered a lot, developed my riding and myself faster then ever before and I already miss this way of living. I really can recommend Randy's place for anybody is interested in riding, horsetrsaining and live on a ranch.Du kannst nur Workawayer mit aktiver Mitgliedschaft kontaktieren.

I am so glad I had the chance to get to know Randy! It was a great opportunity to learn about horses and ranching and a whole lot of other things! He is a really fun guy and I enjoyed working with him! Definitely one of the best stays I've had.

I know its not the first comment I am writting but I still wouldn’t know where to start.
I want to say that I didn’t just joined a place of work but more a big horsey family that welcomed me just like if I was home. I can assure you, this is clearly one of the best experience I ever had and I wish I didn’t have to leave.
The second Randy
… read more picked me up from the airport, I realize how amazing my stay will be. He immediately conforted me and made me feel so welcomed. Throughout this journey, I have always been more and more surprised of his good vibes and his dedication to his work with horses.
Besides of how funny he is, the experience he gave me was beyond my expectations. He helped me gaining confidence as well as developing my riding skills and my ranch life knowledge. I got to ride many horses, learn proper western riding and went on a lot of trail rides. Not to mention, the landscapes are amazing and there’s a lot of places to see. I saw so many sunrises and sunsets and felt at peace everyday. (I really wish i could share here some of the pictures i took for you to see how beautiul this place is !) On top of that, Randy’s family trusted me with catlle drive, pregnancy check, as well as cows’ vaccination. I discovered every aspects of the ranch/farm life in western canada and it was amazing. I also learned a lot about horse care and injuries, handling babies or working with young horses.
On the other hand, I must say that the days can seem long sometimes since there's always something to do. Even tho the everyday chores are pretty basic (feeding every mornings and evenings, cleaning the pens, grooming horses), there can be a lot of different, sometimes difficult|tiring tasks to do. However, IT IS WORTH IT.
I had the chance to meet Randy’s friends and family. There would always be some of them over ready to teach me their knowledge and experiences around a nice fresh beer after a day of work. I’m so grateful for eveyone I met and eveything I experienced.
I just left this place where I spent 3 months and the only thing I can think about now is to go back !
Future workawayers, don’t be nervous if Randy takes time to answer your questions or just simply text you back, he is a really busy man and you’ll understand when you’ll have the chance to work and learn by his side.
Randy, I forever thank you everything you taught me. I really hope I’ll get to see you soon. Lots of love to you.Du kannst nur Workawayer mit aktiver Mitgliedschaft kontaktieren.

I stayed at Randy's for a month and a half. It was my first contact with Canada in my first time across the ocean and I am so grateful his welcome, for all the time spent togehter, for everything he thought me about horses and farmstay. I could see Canada where wildlife touches civilization in a wonderful place, astonishing spaces and so many

Randy was my third workaway experience and it was the absolute best place to be. My plan was to spend a month there and I ended up staying almost 5 months, that's how much I loved it there. To describe Randy in a few sentences is almost impossible, he was very kind and welcoming and made me feel right at home instantly. He is a hard working person
… read more who gets up early in the morning and likes to get a lot of things done. He is also very goofy and funny and I laughed my head off more than once. :D It would be wrong to expect spending a relaxing holiday there, but if you're a motivated person and don't mind working it's the best option.
I learned a lot from Randy and I appreciate that he shared his knowledge with me. He gave me the opportunity to watch him working the horses and that I was able to work and ride some horses myself as well everyday. He is a great teacher always trying to explain things, even if it took a while for me to understand what he meant at the beginning, since my english wasn't very good when I first got there. I can't believe how much I could improve my riding and my confidence around the horses.
It was very interesting to join all the horse events like cow control clinics, flag nights and buckle series. All the people I met there were very friendly and welcoming, it was just a great atmosphere. The best part was that I wasn't just a worker there, everybody treated me like a friend or part of the family.
Besides all the horse stuff Randy took me everywhere he went and we went out together which was always so much fun! It was definitely never boring and we always had a good time. We created some awesome memories together.
Don't be concerned about Randy's short messages, he's not that much into texting. :D
I could go on and on about how great my stay was, as Randy and I became very good friends, but then I would write a novel ;)
I had an incredible time there that I,ll never forget and I would recommend this place to everybody who is willing to work and learn and experience the lifestyle of a western horse ranch. I hope I'll have the opportunity to come back.Du kannst nur Workawayer mit aktiver Mitgliedschaft kontaktieren.
