Beschreibung
We’re a young couple, the 3rd generation running the place, alongside our father (in-law) and other family members who help out. Our home is a huge, cozy lodge sitting on 400 acres, completely surrounded by untouched wilderness. We’re off the grid, powered by a generator — life out here runs on hard work, good company, and probably too much coffee.
While we do have horses and occasionally go on horseback rides, it’s important to note that we don’t focus only on horse activities. Our horses work hard all summer taking guests on backcountry adventures, so we make sure they get a well-earned break between trips. Most of the time, our horses live in a large herd, and we don’t do much stable work or daily grooming. We leave them to just be horses, letting them roam freely. We do, however, prepare them for the trips when needed, but outside of that, they just live their best lives.
You’ll get a chance to pitch in with a wide variety of tasks, from clearing trails and building fences to tending our garden and cooking hearty meals. We spend a lot of time working on the machinery that keeps us going, collecting firewood for the colder months, and making sure the lodge is always running smoothly. Every day brings something new, and the best part is that you’ll get to work alongside us on these real, hands-on projects.
But don’t worry, it’s not all work. We’re big fans of fun, too! From bonfire nights and relaxing lake days to hiking trips we make sure to take time to enjoy the beauty around us. Our Workaways aren’t just extra hands — you’ll become part of the family, sharing meals, stories, and adventures.
If you’re up for a true off-grid experience in one of the most beautiful places on earth, we’d love to have you join us. Get in touch and let’s make some memories!Arten von Hilfe und Lernmöglichkeiten

The amount of hands on experience that a person will acquire at the lodge is like no other. We teach some people to drive machinery for the first time, work with animals, feel safe and in control when in a wilderness environment. When you leave this place you will have a much more solid understanding of how things work within your daily lives back home.

Arbeit
We do a bit of everything—gardening, building and repairing fences, hospitality and lodge upkeep, cooking and baking, haying and caring for flowers and outdoor spaces. There’s always machinery to fix and maintain, trips to prepare for, tack to clean, and trails to clear—sometimes even on overnight trips into the wild.

At the lodge, we provide double rooms with towels, blankets, pillows, and any additional bedding you may need. Please note that you may need to share your room with another Workaway.
In the mountains, we stay in tents or cabins, and you’ll need to bring your own sleeping bag.
If you're coming from overseas, we can help with a sleeping bag, but availability is limited. Bring anything else you may need for the adventureWas noch ...
We’re a third-generation family running the lodge together, and we’re really proud of our history and what we’ve built here. We work as a team and always make sure there’s something cool happening at the lodge — depending on when you visit, that could mean pack clinics or wilderness survival workshops. Our workawayers always leave with plenty of new knowledge because we love sharing what we know. We offer hands-on experiences, teaching the way we do things — whether it’s with our horses or machinery. We appreciate a happy attitude and a willingness to learn, as we’re always eager to pass on our skills!
The nature here is absolutely breathtaking, and we all truly appreciate this incredible gift. We make sure to keep it clean and respect the wildlife that surrounds us. Living in harmony with nature, we know both our boundaries and those of the animals.
We also ask our workawayers to listen closely when it comes to wildlife. Safety is our top priority, and we want to prevent any accidents by respecting the creatures we share this land with.
The next town is about a 4-hour drive away, so we limit our trips there and stock up on everything we need for the lodge. If you'd like to join us on one of those trips, you’re more than welcome!Etwas mehr Information
