My name is Gerardo, I am a teacher of handicrafts (rustic basketry) and a Philosophy Degree (I do not practice academically) I live since 2000 in an old adobe house (70 cm walls) and high roof tiles.
There I developed my project of Ecohostel, following a permacultural planning, having realized artistic events of popular culture. With the help of friends we are intervening the old house with bioconstructive techniques with the aim of preserving it and improving its conditions.
The town where the house is located is Huaycama, Department of Valle Viejo, Province of Catamarca, 15 km from the capital city, at the foot of the imposing Sierras de Ancasti. At this stage we receive up to three volunteers at a time. There are one dog, one cat and one horse. Nature is in full wilderness, and the village is very quiet, serving as a base point to tour the rest of this wonderful and unknown province.
The basic experience is to participate in the community tasks we perform (orchard, bio-construction, maintenance of energy systems, kitchen, music, basketry, pottery, etc.). We have internet and music instruments: vertical piano, drum. We wait for you, thank you.
Me llamo Gerardo, soy docente de artesanía (cestería rústica) y Lic. en Filosofía (no ejerzo académicamente) vivo desde el año 2000 en una antigua casona de adobe (paredes de 70 cm) y alto techo de tejas. Allí desarrollo mi proyecto que es una Casa Cultural que ofrecerá servicios de Ecohostel, caminatas, , eventos culturales y artísticos, talleres de artesanía, comidas y productos regionales (todo casero), siguiendo una planificación permacultural, . Con ayuda de amigos estamos interviniendo la vieja casona con técnicas bioconstructivas con el objetivo de preservarla y mejorar sus condiciones. Disponemos de dos hectáreas donde sembraremos las hortalizas que consumiremos. El pueblo donde está ubicada la casona es Huaycama, Departamento Valle Viejo, Provincia de Catamarca, a 15 km de la ciudad capital, al pie de las imponentes Sierras de Ancasti. En esta etapa recibimos hasta tres voluntarios por vez, durante un período de 4 (cuatro) semanas como mínimo. Hay un perro, dos gatos y un caballo. La naturaleza está en pleno estado silvestre, y el pueblo es muy tranquilo, sirviendo como punto de base para recorrer el resto de esta maravillosa y desconocida provincia. La experiencia básica es la de participar en las tareas comunitarias que realizamos (huerta, bioconstrucción, mantenimiento de los sistemas de energía, cocina, música, cestería, alfarería, etc.) El Proyecto está en su inicios y siempre queda mucho por hacer! The walks to the nearby ravines are a very rich experience since the nature there is in its wild and wild state. En casa cultivamos, disfrutamos y difundimos nuestra cultura popular de raíz folklórica, música , danza historia, literatura, y compartimos los saberes vinculados a ella y las prácticas que conocemos, como ser cestería y alfarería. Las caminatas hacia las quebradas cercanas son una experiencia muy rica ya que la naturaleza allí está en su estado plenamente silvestre y agreste. Hay paseos a corta, mediana y larga distancia que harán de su estadía una experiencia enriquecedora y agradable.

Huaycama de Valle Viejo is located 15 km from the provincial capital, San Fernando Delvalle de Catamarca, where the Bus Terminal is located. The Airport is 20 km from the city and has two daily flights to Buenos Aires. We have internet and wifi.

El trabajo fue interesante y divertido (lo ayudamos construir una represa) y la naturalesa fue re linda. Gerardo es muy inteligente y tiene mucho a compartir. Es tambien una guitarrista fantastica y tenía mucha paciencia con nuestro mal español.
