  Beschreibung

  We are a Dutch/Chinese/Kiwi family of five- Warrick, Ellen and three teenaged daughters. Our eldest moved out this year, so now we have a spare room for a Workawayer!
  In the past, in our previous home, we hosted many travellers through another website. They helped us with all sort of things over the years- from painting to building to childcare to cooking and everything inbetween. We love the exchange concept- how cool is it to be able to have an extra pair of hands (or two!) around the house, and at the same time give travellers a break and a home to recharge for a while.
  At the moment, we are specifically looking for a person (or two- if you don't mind sleeping in two single beds!) who can help us get our old house ready to go on the market. It is a lovely, cute three bedroom house that we live din for seventeen years and where our girls were born. Two years ago, we moved as we needed better public transport for our independent girls, a bit more space, and a workshop for Ellen! Now it is time to find another family to love it, but first there are a lot of jobs that need to be done. Work will be mainly around the garden, and lots of smaller and bigger painting jobs. It would be great if you have done painting before- as it there is not much time for practice. The help is needed from the 4th until the 14th of September, but if you want to extend either way that is fine!
  
  We are looking forward to hosting again! You would be working up to four hours a day, five (or six if you are ok with that!) days a week. You'll share a bathroom with our daughters but of course you will have your own room. We are close to shops and public transport, and you can be in Lower Hutt central within ten minutes by car or bus. We are 1 km away form a railway station where you will be able to catch the train into Wellington, to explore the city. Lower Hutt itself has plenty of lovely walks and beaches. If you want to 'do urban' for a bit and take in some culture, there is plenty around for that too. We can't wait to see you!

  We are a multicultural household and it only make it more exciting to add some more! You may be able to enjoy some real Dutch, Kiwiana or Chinese food and customs. We speak Dutch and English so if you are keen to practise any of those we are the place to go! Our middle daughter is off to Costa Rica next year for an exchange, so if you speak Spanish she would love to try speaking some Spanish with you. You'll be part of the family while you are with us, so anything we do you are welcome to join in! We do have quite a busy schedule, but since Ellen has time off work there is company around if you like that :-) Although she'll be stuck working at the house!
  We love hearing about your country, your language, customs, and your travel. If you would like to bake or cook something for us we certainly won't say no!
  If you are into running, singing, gymnastics or any sport really (Warrick!) there will also be plenty to talk about.

  Arbeit

  At this time, we need help with painting (indoors and outdoors, ). This will be smaller jobs like window frames, but could also be larger like a wall or ceiling. Depending on the weather now, and when you are here, there will likely also be some gardening involved. If you like to cook, you would be welcome to contribute that too so we can work harder ;-) Any experience with light building tasks would be great, but is not essential. I have taken time off work to do up the house, so you'd be working with me (Ellen), and the rest of the day you are free to explore!

  Unterkunft

  We live in a large home that still needs a bit of love to grow into its full potential. There is plenty of room indoors and outdoors to spread out, whether you want company or be on your own for a bit. The bedroom has one single bed (cabin style so quite high!) and we can put another single bed in there. Wardrobe space can be available if needed. There is a small desk and we can provide lots of other things should you need them!
  The bathroom is shared with the girls.
  Breakfast is usually help yourself, as we'll all be on our own time schedules! We'll have to think about lunch as we will often be at the other house at that time- we can be creative! We usually sit around the table for dinner, although it is not often we are all there! It will be a nice home-cooked dinner. We do eat meat- normally we would be able to happily accommodate a vegetarian of vegan, but I am anticipating we may not have much energy left to think of different dinners this time. But if you are really keen, and a vegetarian, please still respond and we can see what we can do.

  We do have space for a camper as long as you are ok to move it out of the way now and again- we have an EV that needs to be charged in front of our garage, which means it has to come all the way down the drive. Depending on size it could also be parked in the street.

  Moonlight

  Moonlight is our 10 year-old tuxedo cat. She loves to sleep on snuggly blankets and in the sunshine, and loves cuddles when she feels like it!

  

  Dingle

  Dingle is our seventeen year-old, very gentle, dog. He is a Shitzu-Bichon Frise cross. He now has problems with his hearing and eyesight, and LOVES making himself comfortable and sleeping. He still has plenty of energy, though, especially for walks!
