***Seeking housesitters! June-Sept (2-3months)***
Hello! We are Ocean, Rachel and our son Andros (age 8) and we enjoy the creativity and fresh perspectives that international visitors bring to our farm. We live a simple, agrucultural life, growing and producing tree-to-bar chocolate that we sell throughout the region as well as coffee, many different fruits and vegetables and herbs that provide us with most of the food and medicine that we need to enjoy life here on the land.
We seek warm, mindful, concious, creative, open-mided people to assist us with the daily tasks on the farm. Especially important is the ability to connect with Andros and support him in his studies and hobbies.
***We are also searching for folks to care for our farm while away. Ideally, someone who could commit to about 2-3 months around June-Sept.***
Spanish speakers who are comfortable living in the jungle and working outside to maintain the land and gardens, as well as care for our cat Elsa and a few ducks and chickens. It would not require long hours, but we are looking for responsible, caring, conscious, and capable stewards who also have a passion for living close to nature and value the freedom and responsibilities of homesteading.
The chocolate and tropical fruit farm is located about 7 km north of the small town of Santa Fe. Right on the Rio Santa Maria, this fertile 1.3 hectares provides us with a consistent and varied supply of food and natural beauty. We have a large harvest of cacao and coffee and are processing it all on the farm. We make a really fine set of chocolate bars that we sell locally and do a cacao farm tour occasionally. The farm is a rich ecosystem of garden and food forest production. We have ducks and chickens.
We want to be the change we wish to see in world; and to create space for connection to the natural world.
We live close to nature, enjoy a healthy low stress life with reverence for the natural beauty that surrounds us. The intention of the project is to build community, and sustain ourselves outside the globalized system in healthy concious manner. We would like to invite people here to experience the magic of this land and lifestyle, and to inspire others of an alternative to the pre-packaged modern, virtual experience that is so prevalent everywhere now.

Santa Fe is home to a still thriving traditional Panamanian campesino culture. Many neighbors are talented artisans and traditional musicians. The area has a rich history and there is much to learn from visiting with neighbors. Folks love to share their stories, especially since the youth are leaving for the city life and the elders know well that soon there will be noone left to carry on their cultural heritage. We have cultivated positive relationships with the community and feel blessed to have been embraced with warm hospitality by our neighbors.
Our neighbors are mostly subsistance farmers, growing an abundance of food on an abundance of gorgeous fertile land. There is a general reverance for nature here and love of this campo life! We have learned so much about living close to nature from this culture! Bartering and gifting from harvest abundance is a lasting tradition here. There are very few foreigners in the area.
You will inevitably learn much about plants and their uses while on the farm, as Ocean studied botany and permaculture, and gives tours of the farm and into the jungle. Rachel teaches yoga and has a healing arts space in town and joins us here on the farm on the weekends. Andros is educated in the home, he is a self-guided, curious learner whom is passionate about the natural world and loves to read. We invite visitors to teach anything they are especially into and to do projects together.

We are seeking warm, energetic, creative early risers who love spending their time outside getting into the nitty gritty of farm life. Bring your open heart and mind and be prepared to have fun and work with us and work independently.
Our son Andros loves playful and creative companions to engage with in arts, crafts, and music, physical play, homeschool, river time, hiking, and work projects around the farm.
We would appreciate help in the gardens, with chocolate and coffee production, and with construction projects. In our down time we weave into our days mini parties of shelling, sorting, and toasting beans.
We are looking for someone who likes to get up early and start the day together with good vibes and energy for making beauty happen.

Guests are welcome to stay in a variety of tent sites.
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are provided by the host and we all eat together. Please bring anything you might want to supplement your needs.
The farm borders the Rio Santa Maria, where we have many trails that lead to different swimming holes, each more beautiful than the last! There is also a sacred site of petroglyphs within a five minute walk. A ten minute walk in the other direction leads you to the Parque Nacional de Santa Fe, and endless river and rainforest exploration. From here, the trails into primary forest go all the way to the Caribbean coast in a couple days' hike.
A chiva (pickup with covered bed and bench seats) passes by the property every hour. It costs $1.50 one way to town and is more or less reliable. Taxis are available to go anywhere in the area, as well. For a weekend (or longer) trip to the Caribbean or Pacific beaches, buses leave from town and it only takes a few hours to get to a variety of beaches on either coastline!
