Help us refresh our guesthouse in sunny Algarve close to Silves

  We are Maurits and Femke,
  
  We moved to the Algarve in February 2026 with our son Bram who is 2 years old. We are renovating an old Quinta close to Silves into a small guesthouse. We choose the Algarve and Silves because we have some family living close by and are in love with the peaceful surroundings but still have everything close by within 30 minute drive if you need something.
  It is our dream project where we combine a peaceful surrounding in nature with a family friendly concept.
  
  We are looking for Workawayers who are interested in helping us set up/improve our guesthouse and beautiful garden.
  We hope to open our guesthouse for bookings around September. But it all depends on how fast the renovation goes.
  
  After a day of work we love to spend time together and cook. Cooking is our biggest hobby. We love to BBQ and go to the market for fresh products. Maybe you have a favorite meal that you would like to make for us as well?
  
  When you stay with us you will be with our little family of 3. Our son Bram is a toddler and loves meeting new people (just like us!) . So a family environment is what you will be staying in.

  We speak English and Dutch fluently and our open to connect with people who would like to improve their Dutch or English language.
  
  We offer the opportunity to learn more about hospitality and opening a guesthouse like ours. Femke has a minor in Hospitality Management and many years of experience in opening new hotels and working in hotels as a marketing, event, food&beverage employee and later on as a HR coordinator and Management Assistant.
  
  We are also open to learn more from others regarding plants and landscaping. The guesthouse has the most beautiful lush garden and many opportunities to improve it even more. If you have knowledge about gardens we would love to learn from you.

  Arbeit

  We are looking for enthusiastic and hands-on people who enjoy being outdoors and helping with projects such as:
  -Gardening and landscaping
  -Painting and light renovation work
  -Small furniture and kitchen projects
  
  We pay the minimum wage that will be discussed with you after we know more about your age.

  Unterkunft

  During the month of May 2026, you will stay in our temporary accommodation. A private room with a double bed and your own bathroom in a rental house located about 20 minutes from our guesthouse.
  The house offers:
  -A small garden
  -A swimming pool
  -Living area and kitchen
  -A great location just a 3-minute walk from the beach in Quarteira and several shops and restaurants in walking distance
  This is a perfect setup if you enjoy combining helping us with relaxing time near the coast.
  
  From June 2026, we will be living at the guesthouse ourselves while continuing the renovation. During this period, you will stay on-site in a guest room with a double bed and your own bathroom.
  The guesthouse also offers:
  -Living area and kitchen
  -A swimming pool
  -A beautiful garden to relax in
  -A small supermarket just behind the house, open 7 days a week
  The location is very convenient:
  -Only 12 minutes from Silves
  -Around 25 minutes from the beaches

  Was noch ...

  A car is a must in the Algarve. There is public transportation (bus) but it is not that good of a connection. From our guesthouse you can visit the most beautiful beaches within a 25 minute drive. You can go for hikes along the coast or more into the hills of Monchique. There is even a walking path that comes along our guesthouse that is very popular. There are many villages to visit for some nice restaurants and culture. Such as Silves, Monchique, Loule, Olhao, Ferragudo. Carvoeiro and many more.
