First of all, I want to express my surprise at your review, as I believe it does not accurately reflect the reality of your stay with us. From the beginning, our intention was to reach a fair and flexible agreement for both parties, adapting to the needs and circumstances that arose.
Regarding the work schedule, it is true that at certain times

Furthermore, on several occasions, you stayed at home dedicating time to your own editing work and other personal activities, which demonstrates that you were not in a constant state of overload, as you claim.
As for free time and mobility, we always offered recommendations and options for exploring the city and its surroundings. If you were unable to take advantage of them, it was not due to a lack of willingness on our part, but rather a matter of time management that depended entirely on Jocelin.
Moreover, it is important to clarify that the distancing in the last week was not related to your reduction in working hours but rather to a much more serious issue: the publication of videos on social media that included our six-year-old daughter without our consent. We consider this a breach of our family’s privacy and a boundary that should not have been crossed. Despite this, we tried to handle the situation as amicably as possible.
We regret that your perception was different and that you did not appreciate the efforts we made to make your stay as pleasant as possible. In the future, we suggest being clearer in communication from the beginning to avoid misunderstandings and, above all, respecting the privacy and agreements established with your hosts.
I stayed with Estela, Osca, and their two wonderful girls from February 9th to March 3rd. They are incredible, friendly, lively people who made me feel welcome. I felt like I was part of their family and felt very welcome.

When I asked Estela about the
… read more work hours, she always said, 'You work when I work. And get off when I'm off.' The problem with that is that she works 40 hours a week, plus travel time. For the first two weeks, I worked 40 hours a week, unable to get out of the house to do anything. Because of the children's schedule of 9 am, drop off, clean, pick up at 12:30, cook, stay with them, then drop off to school again at 3 pm, there's no time to do anything outside the home. This was the routine five days a week, and then some weekend night shifts.
With a couple of hours in between while the children are in school, you can't do much with that time because it takes 40 minutes to walk to the bus/train station from the house and another 30 minutes on a bus to get to the city. Even though Oscar recommended many lovely places to go, I didn't have the time to go because of the transport schedule and the family's work schedule.
In the last week of my stay, I finally told the family that I could only be available for the recommended 25 hours a week. Of course, you're nice and sweet until you stand up for yourself. It's best to negotiate the 25 hours before you travel to avoid confronting your host and feeling tension. Because of this experience, I learned to ask better questions when I communicate with prospective hosts.
That's the only reason I could not give them a five-star rating. But they are a loving family with wonderful friends who are eager to help you when you need it.
This was my second workaway experience and I am so grateful for this family. I felt welcome from the beginning. They are so kind, hospitable, caring and always make sure you have everything you need. They are interested in your culture and country and try to show you theirs and help you plan your trips.
The girls, Laura and Valeria are very funny
… read more and lively. I spoke to them mostly in English without any problem. Laura's English is very good and Valeria is very creative and can cope when she finds it difficult. I also had the chance to practice my Spanish, especially in conversations with Oscar, which was great. I'm thankful for everyone's patience with my Spanish.
There is an amazing community of friends and it was great to be part of it and learn about Spanish lifestyle and culture. I had a wonderful time with this family and I miss all of them already.

Elba; la abuela, siempre está disponible para sus nietas, es evidente que son muy importantes para ella y serán su eje siempre.
Óscar es un hombre muy conversador que siempre tiene algún buen consejo para dar, es una persona servicial y tratará en lo posible que sus invitados se sientan comodos en su hogar.
Stella es una mujer muy trabajadora, inquieta y divertida, que siempre tiene algún chiste nuevo para contar.
Los perros son tamaño gigante, pero son muy amorosos! También tienen un pequeño gatito.
Las tareas que desempeñé en la casa fueron de cuidado de niños, orden y limpieza, y en algunas ocasiones me he ocupado de la comida.
Hay una pequeña huerta a restaurar que cobrará vida con un buen sistema de riego, ya que la familia siempre está haciendo muchas cosas y no suelen tener tiempo para dedicarle a la jardinería.
Las niñas tienen un montón de juegos y actividades para hacer cada día, pero les gusta la posibilidad de descubrir o crear algo nuevo.
En esta casa hay cámaras de seguridad y los padres están muy pendientes de ellas.
Se habla con poca frecuencia el catalán, y el portugués. Predomina el español y el inglés.
Otro punto a destacar es que son muy sociables, y siempre tendrán amigos que los visiten o a quien visitar.
Muy agradecida de que me hayan abierto las puertas de su casa y confiado en mí para cuidar de sus niñas.

… read more them. I had long talks with Stella and Oscar and could improve my Spanish A LOT! And I am very happy that I could teach Laura and Valeria some English, too.
My tasks were to help the girls to get up and ready for school, drive them to school, help a bit in the household and prepare something to eat for lunch (a lot of times Elba is around and we laughed a lot together). Then I picked the girls up from school, we ate together and played a little bit. After their mid-day break you take them to school again and pick them up again in the afternoon, after that you are free.
You have your own room and in walking distance there is a bus station to go to Tarragona (they live in an urbanization and not directly in the city) although Oscar and Stella are more then happy to give you a ride to a bus station, which has more frequent busses. In general, they help you and encourage you to visit Tarragona (which is beautiful with a lot of history and yummy churros!) and are at times also flexible when you want to take a bus earlier. I experienced a lot with them and even got to do horse riding lessons close to them. Sometimes it is a bit chaotic in the house, but everyone is so heartwarming, funny and loving that you just feel like a part of the family. It is a house of laughter and I loved the meetings with their friends and the Halloween party and have so many memories that I hold close to my heart.
I will love my Spanish (half Brazilian ;) ) family forever as even in just three weeks I grew very close to them. I can only recommend to stay with the family!
One more thing to mention is that there is a family of friends in the neighbourhood that also take Workawayers, so it might be possible to stay there with two people, one in each family.
