  We’re looking for a couple to join our team at our Smokehouse, one of Canada’s most successful and highly rated smokehouse restaurants. We are open from May to September.
  
  We are situated at the ‘gateway to wells gray park’ which is famous for its mountain meadows, waterfalls and wildlife (bears, moose, eagles, beavers etc!).
  Our restaurant is famous for its take on Canadian BBQ. The restaurant itself is a handcrafted log building. We choose the best BC craft beers for our tap selection each year. Craft breweries compete to get their beer on our taps. The restaurant is a lively atmosphere right in the tourism town of Clearwater, the gateway to Wells Gray Park. It’s a bustling spot in summer with visitors from all over, you will make local friends and friends that are far from local! You will be invited to join our family and friends for classic Canadian campfires. Whitewater rafting, kayaking and hiking are embedded into our local culture and we want to share that with you. If any of this interests you we will make sure you get every opportunity to take part in this. Our employees are frequently offered free excursions as local businesses know our employees are key to spreading the word about what Clearwater has to offer!
  
  When staying with us, you will learn Canadian BBQ, enjoy summer evenings around a campfire with us as a family, you will make new friends (usually our employees all hang out!), we’ll show you our favourite swimming hole in the crystal clear river and you you are up for it you can join us on a camping trip or two!
  
  Note - Clearwater has epic wilderness opportunities, but if you aren’t keen on wilderness then this work-away might not be for you as that’s really what this town is all about. You don’t have to explore but if you choose not to you might get a bit bored.

  You will learn about the process of Smoking food to perfection while building relationships with our local friends and staff. The outdoor culture is big in Clearwater BC and most your free time will be enjoying the vast wilderness that surrounds us. Hiking, Kayaking and fishing are very popular activities as well as evenings around a campfire with friends.
  
  We are have 2 young kids that we are keen to make worldly young people. If you are from abroad we would love for you to interact and help teach them about your culture and language. They speak French pretty well and are always keen to practice!
  
  As part of your stay we will also take you on a trip with us to visit and stay at my brothers farm in Salmon Arm. They are developing a regenerative farm to supply our restaurant, with the goal being to one day make a complete farm to table experience.
  
  In the off season we travel the world and we love learning about your culture so we can better plan for our off season travels!

  What you’ll do:
  • A mix of yard work & maintenance (keeping our beautiful property looking sharp)
  • Kitchen staffing (helping create that legendary smokehouse magic)
  • Some waiting/shift work in the evenings
  Most shifts are scheduled in the evenings, giving you tons of daylight hours to play, explore, swim, hike, or just chill together. It’s the ultimate work-hard, adventure-harder balance!
  What we offer:

  • The chance to live in one of the most beautiful parts of Interior BC for an entire summer
  • A warm, welcoming vibe your hosts are a young family originally from the UK. We love meeting new people, sharing stories, and we travel ourselves in the off-season!

  Our Kids went to French immersion school and are keen to converse in French to continue their learning. If you speak French and are able to help tutor then we would be keen to pay for a few hours a week tutoring with our kids.
