I stayed for two weeks with Margaret & Rowan here and I loved it! I felt welcomed from the first second because they are so nice people. The house is perfect location for anyone who would like to explore the Blue Mountains. Blackheath has plenty of beautiful bushwalks with amazing views itself and the train station is less than 10 minutes walking
… read more distance and from there you can go to Leura, Katoomba, Wentworth Falls or other towns in the Blue Mountains. Margaret recommended the best bush walking trails so I could experience the most beautiful places of the mountains.
They cooked healthy and very delicious meals and even gave me some food to take on my trips.
The work was quite easy and I always finished before lunch - so I had a lot of the day left to go around. Tasks I did were helping with cleaning & organizing, putting pictures in frames for the open day here and a bit of gardening and weeding.
I can highly recommend this place to everyone who likes to go to the beautiful Blue Mountains and I'm so thankful that I could spend two weeks there!

Brian and Karen are awesome workawayers! They stayed with us for 2 weeks and accomplished so much in that time. Their maturity and work experience meant they were happy to go about working on projects on their own. Brian built us new linen room cupboards and they reflect rare quality craftsmanship. … read more general tidy up and pruning, she did a make-over of our potting and seedling area, created new succulent pots and made the most beautiful flower arrangements for our home. They are both hardworking and enjoyable company too.

They fitted right into our routine and were happy to help out with whatever needed doing. They cooked and baked – delicious food, Dave had his own café for many years. They housesat our 2 cats and looked after our property while we went
… read more on holiday for a week. They undertook tasks such as mowed the lawn, dusted and cleaned out cupboards, fixed curtains, harvested seeds, washed up, vacuumed, and more. All with good Irish humour!
In their off time they explored the area, walking to our scenic lookouts and sampling local cuisine.
We can highly recommend Mags and Dave. And we hope they will come back to help us again!

… read more Rowan own a beautiful guesthouse, in the town of Blackheath in the Blue Mountains.
The area is peaceful, full of beautiful trails & stunning scenery but yet only 2 hours by train to Sydney with the station & also the bus stop only 5 minutes from the house.
The work is flexible, tasks varied & enjoyable, ranging from cooking, gardening, tidying, organizing, feeding the beautiful pet cats, Briella & Molly, to checking to ensure everything is guest ready.
Our bedroom was extremely comfortable & we were extremely well looked after.

It was such a pleasure staying with Margaret and Rowan. … read more project, and a tutorial on social media. The guest house is a lovely place and so close to the train station. It made it easy to visit Katoomba and explore the various local hikes. I stayed in the quad room which was spacious and I had my own bathroom, but it does get quite cold in the Blue Mountains, which I unfortunately wasn't so prepared for. Thankfully, Margaret provided an electric blanket and space heater to keep me comfortable.
Margaret and Rowan are very sweet people. They encouraged me to get to know the other workers staying there and explore their favorite trails with them. I also really appreciated Margaret being flexible when I first arrived in Australia when my original host cancelled on me and offering a potential place to stay if I couldn't find a new host in the Brisbane area. I had the most beautiful time staying in the Blue Mountains at Margarets and Rowans place! They both are soooo nice, kind and warmhearted and they made my stay unforgettable!

… read more and were fun and I was even able to join a few walks with some of the hiking groups that visited the guesthouse! All the walks I made were stunning and close to the guesthouse. You definitely will never get bored there if you are into hiking and being in nature and it must be a paradise for rockclimbers as well.
Also the cats Molly and Briella were such good company and I already miss them!
Margaret and Rowan always made sure that I am alright and I could have breakfast with them every morning which I really adored.
In my opinion staying at the guesthouse as a helper was one of the best decisions I made and I already miss the time and will definitely come back one day!
