Beschreibung
Sometimes we are best described as a fluent community. At the core it’s me, Marieke, a single mother living in a beautiful, big place. There are two children: Jette, seven, and Enno, five, the younger one is disabled and has some lovely nurses caring for him. There are also up to three people living in and around the house with us. Short and long term visitors enjoy themselves here, and being a workaway host is part of the whole project. On our grounds there are two "tiny houses" and one cabin. The place is located peacefully 400 yards off the village right at the edge of the woods, surrounded by 5500m2 of property ground. We grow vegetables, keep chicken and cats while always having some minor or major to build, renovate or create in the house and outside.
But in our rare "free time" we love to experience and explore nature, play with the kids, exercise or being creative. The woods are vast and you can walk for hours. Nearby, there are two lakes for swimming to be reached by foot or bike. We love to have people around and friends on visit. So here's always something going on. However, once everyone settles in it is often very quiet and peaceful around here.

I am actually a wilderness educator at heart but I earn money being an English and biology teacher. I have also worked as a baker and pastry cook for some time. I can craft with a sewing machine, especially nice presents or unique clothes for children. I am self-trained in several DIY around house and garden and in arty fields like sewing or crafting. We have a lot of equipment for gardening and carpentry in a big and well-equipped workshop.

Arbeit
We are looking for help in two different areas and you can apply for either of them as well as both:
For November and December, help is appreciated in the household, like cleaning, baby-sitting and preparing family meals.
Then, we would very much appreciate your help outside in the garden and on the grounds, here we need physical strength, some endurance and basic experience in construction or the willingness to extend your skills here.

I would like to improve my limited Spanish.
Unterkunft
In the main house we have well equipped guest rooms. If you wish so, you can easily have a private space. The large kitchen is on the same floor than the living room and the entertaining room with books, billiard and board games.
Outside there is a small garden cabin with a lovely alcove to sleep in and a veranda in the garden. At least one of the tiny houses is free for your stay at the moment.
We receive our groceries mainly from a local organic farm delivery and like to cook freshly, if time allows.
PLEASE NOTE! We don't buy, eat or have meat in our place! We take turns in preparing meals and clearing the kitchen afterwards and love to have a big table full of hungry people.

I work some hours in home-office at the moment and the children are in childcare during the week.
Kassel offers some cultural attraction as does Melsungen a smaller town nearby offering ice cream parlors and a weekly market. Groceries are available some kilometers away. Public transport exists and we have bikes for closer exploration.
