If you love the calmness of the countryside, being surrounded by nature, and embracing a simple, joyful lifestyle this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for you. Imagine waking up to breathtaking views through your window, with the soothing sounds of birdsong at dawn, whether under golden sunlight or shrouded in mystical mist. You’ll also discover the Icelandic way of life, which involves many delightful coffee breaks!
To immerse yourself in local life, head to the nearby town and pop into the local brewery—I quickly became a hitchhiking pro and often made it back in time to catch the mesmerizing midnight sunset ;)
The adventures here are endless.
The region is filled with trails and hikes, offering lots of opportunities to explore. One day, a friend and I spontaneously decided to walk over a mountain to a nearby town—it was a great idea that turned into an unforgettable day. Holt is set in one of the most stunning parts of Iceland, surrounded by majestic fjords, wild hot springs, charming villages, and awe-inspiring landscapes. The coast, where the 'naked mountains' meet the sea, is truly remarkable—especially for someone like me, who's used to mountains covered in trees. These bare mountainscapes are simply breathtaking!
This is the kind of place that gives you goosebumps.
You will be incredibly fortunate to experience the warmth and charm of Holt with this wonderful family—I promise it will be a memory to treasure.
