  Beschreibung

  *BACKGOUND: Finland - piece of heaven for some, a tiny dot on a map, on the corner of the world, villages in the middle of nowhere with nothing to see, and then again so much to see, we would like to keep on living here where people are called by their first names.
  
  * WE ARE a kind couple, Piia and Toni (around 50's) with 1 calm dog living in the middle part of Finland. Our grown up sons visit many times a week with their girlfriends. Piia has travelled as a Workawayer earlier.
  
  *LIVING PLACE
  We live in countryside outside town Muhos which is 5 km away (9000 inhabitants) and 30 km from bigger city Oulu (200 000 inhabitants). Our house has 3 bedrooms, and one of them is free for Workawayers use. We like to keep the house quite organized except dog hair is sometimes all over.
  The area we live in is geographically flat and there are no hills in landscape. We are surrounded by Finnish forest and fields.
  
  *TIME FOR THE STAY
  We are looking for a Workawayer for 1 to 2 weeks. .
  
  *CHORES AND ELSE
  There is some household shores to do, like walking the dog, do some grocery shopping, prepare meal and vacuum ;) .
  You can go for walks, swimming or biking and of course sauna. You can also make travels from here according to your own plans for example by bus or train.
  
  *ABOUT PIIA:
  Piia speaks English quite fluently with finnish accent. She likes to go biking and swimming during whole year in a river and lay on the couch watching TV or hanging in the net after work days in special vocational education in digital development. Piias' workdays are quite long and often after that energies are low and couch sounds perfect. Piia is social yet at the same likes to be on her own, has travelled a lot in her life, much of it alone.
  
  *ABOUT TONI:
  Toni understands plenty of English and would like to learn to speak more even though he is hesitant to speak. He is a bit reserved yet kindhearted and very calm. Toni likes to do his chores in the garage and likes to get early sleep starting his workdays early in his maintenance company. He likes to spend time in bedroom watching tv and endless reels in social media 😊. Don't worry, he is not hiding, instead relaxing.
  
  1. TASKS. How much time is expected and the details of the tasks?
  - 3-5 hours a day, 3-5 days a week.
  - Pick something of the ones below:
  - Walk the dog
  - Do some grocery shopping on our expence
  - Maybe prepare simple dinner which we plan together or you can surprise us 😊, sometimes, not daily
  - Vacuum
  - Short tidying
  - Before and in the end of summer washing windows.
  - If you and Toni feel like it, practice his English like have, had, hasn't, did, didn't...
  - Talking about your country, culture, about you and your values and sharing our culture and thoughts
  
  2. MEALS. How meals and food will happen?
  We eat simple food, yet mostly lunch at work, so often we eat bread or snacks at home eventhough meals should be prepared. Maybe you can give ideas or prepare simple meals. You can have breakfast, lunch and other meals from the fridge and make them for you as you like. And of course if we make something you are welcome to eat with us. Usually we dont eat together - everyone eats whenever..
  
  3. INTERNET/PHONE rules
  We have WiFi 5g which you can use. No phone "rules". We spend quite a lot of time on the phone.
  
  4. PUBLIC TRANSPORT info
  We live 5 km from the small town Muhos and 30 km from bigger town Oulu. There is a bus a few times a day which you can use, and to the bigger City Oulu it is about 2,50€. To Muhos you can also bicycle.
  If possible when you want to visit the city of Oulu you can get a lift when we go to work or come home.
  
  5. THINGS TO DO locally:
  You can go for walks, swimming or biking and of course sauna, we have 2 saunas, but now using the other one. You can also make travels from here according to your own plans for example by bus or train on your own cost if for example you want to visit the City of Santa Claus in Lapland, Rovaniemi. By train it takes about 3 hours to Rovaniemi.
  
  6. "RULES": Piia is more social yet likes time on own and Toni is more quiet. Please be just as you are! We like "common/ordinary" life and value average life. In the house when you stop using material, please put it back in its place, like our other son does and the other one not 🤭
  
  *WE ARE LOOKING FOR a genuine "normal" person who can spend some time with us and also manages on her/his own and is independent in visiting Finland. We have hosted some exchange student, workawayers and Piia has experience being a Workawayer herself.
  We can host 1-2 weeks.
  
  *Workawayers we HAVE HAD:

  November 2023: Workawayer from Andorra.
  December 2023: 2 workawayers from France and England.
  April 2024: Workawayer from France
  August 2024: Workawayer from Japan
  December 2024-January 2025: Workawayer from Germany
  
  *PAY SOME ATTENTION to Finlands quite high costs in average life/shopping.

  You will learn how "a typical Finnish family" lives, the calm lifestyle. You have a chance to enjoy sauna maybe a few times a week if you wish. Your independency is respected, you get privacy as well as time spend together. If you want to travel in Finland on your own, we can help you to find suitable bus or train connections or so.

  Unterkunft

  One bedroom (10 m2) with 120 cm bed (one of 3 bedrooms in the house). Food: we will offer "normal" food for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks, nothing fancy but we can make better plans together. You can take food from the frldge on your own and make meals for you and sometimes for us as well.
  Wifi in the house, 5G.
  1 bathroom in the house to be shared.
  House is quite new, scandinavian style with lots of light with big windows, except during dark winter months ;)

  Your time off:
  - Time on your own, travelling with your own plans at your own cost
  - Staying in the house as a family member
  - Swimming in the river or swimming hall
  - Walking, jogging, biking. You can use our bike.
  - Winter: cross country skiing, forest skiing, kicksledgeing, ice swimming or dipping
  - There is also a gym in the small town of Muhos (Toni sometimes goes there also).
  - Going to Oulu (30-60 min) the bigger city (shopping, movies, cafes etc).
