Live in our home for the full dates 18 to 25 October, or 9 to 12 November 2025
Hi! We’re a couple living on the beautiful island of Crete, in a quiet mountain village in South Rethymno. We share our home with three much-loved dogs—friendly, funny, and full of personality.
We’re tucked in a quiet, green corner of Crete with a little creek running behind the house, mountain views out front, and the sea not far away. Mornings are birds and breeze; evenings are pink skies and the sound of water. It’s peaceful, safe, and close enough to shops and beaches for a swim or coffee, but far enough to feel like true countryside. If you enjoy nature, slow living, and fresh air, you’ll feel at home here.
And here are the stars of the show:
• Argos — Cretan shepherd mix: friendly, lively, and curious; loves exploring new paths and sniffing everything.
• Talos — Corgi/Jack Russell mix: very active, playful, and a little clown—he’s our comic relief and game-starter.
• Rocko — gentle soul: calm and quiet, walks beautifully without a leash, and is happiest when he’s getting cuddles.
They’re house-trained, used to a calm, positive approach, and settle beautifully after a good walk and some attention.Arten von Hilfe und Lernmöglichkeiten

slow rhythms & hospitality
• villages run on first-name, the plateía (main square), and the kafeneío (coffee house). people linger; “kaliméra/kalispéra” and a smile go a long way.
• expect neighbors to check in, share figs/olive oil/raki, and ask where you’re from—this is philoxenía (hospitality).
seasonal life you can see/do in october
• raki/tsikoudiá distilling: late oct–nov is rakokazána season. if a neighbor fires up a still, you may be invited—music, meze, tiny glasses of raki.
• olive harvest (starting late oct in many areas): watch or lend a hand for an hour—nets under trees, olives combed down, bags to the local mill.
• name-day socials: around late oct (e.g., Agios Dimitrios, 26 Oct), families host open-house style visits with sweets or meze.
daily rituals to try
• morning: Greek coffee or frapé/freddo at the kafeneío; buy warm bread from the fourno (bakery).
• midday: many shops pause for mesimerí (quiet/siesta hours). it’s normal to hear church bells, roosters, and, well, not much else.
• evening: simple tavérna dinner—order a couple of dishes and share; try dakos, kalitsounia, local greens (horta).
nature & nearby life
• you’ve got mountain views, a creek behind the house, and the sea close by. walks here are about scents (thyme, sage), goat bells, and sunset light.
• small weekly laïkí (farmers’ market) trips are a cultural lesson by themselves—taste olives, ask for “ti kalo échete sīmera?” (what’s good today?).
practical notes
• buses are infrequent; walking is common. shops may be closed on sunday or at odd hours—roll with it.Arbeit
What we need
• (overnights every night) and be present a good chunk of the day—our dogs relax best when someone’s around.
• Keep our three dogs in their normal routine with kind, positive handling:
• One walk per day (about 30 min).
• Roam time in the fenced garden/house the rest of the day.
• Feeds once daily + fresh water.
• Cuddles/companionship (they love having a person at home).
Ducks (4 total):
• Feed once a day (grain/pellets + greens we provide).
• Replace/refresh water daily.Gesprochene Sprachen

Rocko (6 Jahren)
Rocko — gentle soul (rescue)
Calm, quiet, and ultra-chill. He’s easy at home and on walks, and you’ll barely notice he’s there.
• Personality: steady, affectionate, low-maintenance; loves naps and cuddles.
• Best routine: one relaxed stroll (30–45 min) + garden pottering; lots of sofa time.
• Separation note: Rocko has separation anxiety—it’s best to take him with you on errands or outings. He travels/settles quietly and is no trouble.
• Handling tips: soft voice, slow movements; lead near roads/new places, otherwise happy off-lead on familiar routes.
• Around others: polite and unobtrusive; ignores most dogs after a quick sniff.
• At home: no supervision needed—he’s simply chill and happiest with a human nearby.Talos (2 Jahren)
Talos — Corgi/Jack Russell mix (rescue)
Our little comedian. Talos is very active, playful, and clever—always ready for a game and great at making people laugh.
• Personality: upbeat, curious, toy-motivated; fun-loving with a cheeky streak.
• Best routine: one solid playful walk daily (30–60 min) + garden zoomies and short training games.
• Enrichment he loves: fetch/tug, snuffle mats, simple puzzle toys, quick trick sessions.
• Handling tips: reward calm sits before doors, swap toys rather than “take,” and use treats to redirect excitement.
• Around others: friendly but can be bouncy—slow greetings help; keep lead on until he settles.
• At home: happiest with company; after exercise and a brain game he curls up and chills.Argos (2 Jahren)
Argos — Cretan shepherd mix (rescue)
Friendly, lively, and curious—Argos is our explorer. He loves sniffy walks and checking out new paths, then settles well at home with a person nearby.
• Personality: sociable, confident, enjoys gentle attention; alert but polite with visitors.
• Best routine: one decent sniff walk daily (30–60 min), plus garden roaming.
• Handling tips: calm voice, treats, and clear cues; clip lead before opening gates.
• Around others: introduce slowly on neutral ground; give him a minute to sniff.
• At home: happy to relax after exercise; appreciates quiet company and structure.
