About the houses you are going to be volunteering:
-The 1st one; AIRPORT HOUSE; the busiest, witch means "more" people come, sleep for a few hours, take a shower and leave for their next flight.
You have to receive 1 or 2 reservations a day. For now only 2 rooms, 3 beds total.
-2nd House, ROMA: You'll come to this house 1 or 2 times a week, just to make sure everything is set for the next guest. And message the guest if there is something they might need help with.
-3rd and last house is for long term stays, witch means you are not going to be there often. As for December there is no particular tasks for this house, probably later.
---Serve breakfast: From 09:00-11:00.
Simple and quick breakfast for 2 or 4 people, pancakes, coffee/tea, fruit. Same building you'll be staying. No need to transport in the morning. ONLY IN AIRPORT HOUSE.
----Cleanliness / Quality checklist:
FOR AIRPORT HOUSE:
Usually cleaning is at check out from: 12:00-14:00.
I already have 2 cleaning workers to do the cleaning, but sometimes they forgot some key details. Your mission is to check a list (I´ve already made, you can improve it if you like to) and make sure everything is clean, things in place. like clean bathroom, clean sheets, towels, refill shampoo, hand soap, etc. It takes like 10 min per room, 2 rooms, 20 min total.
But also you have to learn how to do the cleaning, just in case one of the cleaning workers is in another house. (change sheets, towels, blankets, clean mirrors, wash dishes…)
Sometimes do the cleaning earlier (just in special occasions)
The schedule is very flexible. And sometimes Check in / Check out are not fully completed, there will be times when a guest will stay only for 6 or 8 hours. Because all they need, is to sleep for a few hours, take a shower and leave for their next flight.
Jane Check In at 21:30 PM on Sunday night and Check out Monday early morning: 07:40 AM so the room is available but not clean*
John will arrive also on Monday morning at 11:00 am, so instead of waiting till 14:00. Cleaning could be advanced for John, so he can enter at 11:00 am.
When you land after a 8 or 10 hour flight, and the next day you have another flight, those few hours of good sleep are precious.
*When people come just for few hours the cleaning process is much quick and easy.
Don't worry to do the laundry, all the sheets and blankets are washed at a professional laundry. All you need to do is take off the sheets from the beds, put them in a bag and I´ll take them to the laundry, then bring them back when they are clean.
ROMA HOUSE: Same checklist with some variants, but in this one you'll have more time to set up the house for the guest. Only 1 or 2 times a week.
---Communication with guest: The most important task of all, when a reservation is confirmed, you'll have to answer as quick as possible and provide guest with all details of their reservation, address, free wifi in airport, ask them what time they are going to arrive, their flight number, etc.
---Bring guests from the airport to the house. (Most of the times I do this)
AIRPORT HOUSE is very close from the house, 10-15 min walking, 5 min by car. sometimes some guest will ask to be picked up from the airport. When I can't do it. Your mission is to wait for them at the airport, help them with their luggage and bring them to the house by uber, (you'll use my account) and check them in. And when they leave the next day call an uber to take them back to the airport.
Tip: I ask them their flight number so I can check it in google if its delayed or something, when it lands, I wait like 30 min for them to pick their luggage, and another 10 to reach the place I will meet them.
---Check in guest.
Ask for an ID upon arrival, quick tour of their room, confirm bookings, give and take keys from guests. Recommend restaurants and places to go nearby.
if you keep reading: start your message with the answer to this: what color is mexico flag?
---Help guest to print their boarding passes. Some guest may require this, there is a printer in the house. Some mexican airlines change a lot if you forget to print your boarding pass.
March - April:
Kids project in Cuetzalan, Puebla.
My favorite place in Mexico!
A village 5 hours away from Mexico City, surrounded with nature, waterfalls, caves and mountains has become my favorite place to visit in the last year, but also one of the poorest regions in Mexico.
My plan for next March-April is to do something remarkable for the kids in Cuetzalan, during 4-5 days we will have many activities with them, presentation about your country, teach them basic English, Italian, French... and we could learn Nahuatl (their native language). rallies, movie night, simply by playing games with a foreigner will make kids crazy haha.
If you have an awesome idea we could do or have participate in a project like this, please let me know.
NOTE: Since this project is a charity project, accommodation for this few days (5 days) we will have to share rooms (male/female separate) depending on how many volunteers are going, camping or be hosted in a host family in the village.
Free accommodation is provided in exchange for 4-5 hours help a day.
You'll stay in my apartment, 2 bedrooms, kitchen, living room, hot water, WIFI. The apartment its shared only with me or the other volunteers.
No air conditioning or heating since its not necessary in Mexico City. most of the year temperature is like 20º C
-Well lighted private room with full size bed, sheets, blankets, closet and private bathroom.
-Shared living room and kitchen: fridge, stove, pots and pans. You can use everything in the apartment, but please put it back to its place and wash your dishes :)
In the kitchen you will find the basics to cook; like oil, cereal, oatmeal rice, beans, coffee, tea.
I really enjoy cooking, but lately my schedules on weekdays are very bussy :( ... But on some weekends I´ll be glad to teach you how to cook something mexican :)
Supermarket is 15 min away walking and many deliciuos and cheap options to eat nearby, a neighborhood market where you can find milkshakes, fruit, vegetables.
Subway very close by too. Downtown is about 20 min away
You will have a lot of spare time so you can go explore the city, visit museums,, subway station is really close from the apartment.
If you made this far and you think you can help me with some of the projects please send me a message.
Everyone is welcomed :)
The neighborhood where Perrito got lost is about 20 min away from downtown, now its hollydays so there will be no traffic at all.
