please come around, we will need your help and inspiration to build up this communitie space in a good way and have exhbitions worksops classes. Join us and join the board of directors and become a part of our creative family. For the future we might develop the perspective for a cooperation of long terms if you feel like that- we are working with governmental grants of germany and europe as funding for our cultural program - here in our cultural community space, all new partners from around the globe are more then wellcome.
---PLEASE NOTE: We are currently (especially) looking for help with building the wooden floor of the library, terrasses around the house,
some clay plastering in the cultural center and also painting walls. Besides we would love to have some support with our homepage and social media profiles. And also with the new program of workshops and classes in our cultural center. Additionally, help with tiding up the construction site and with
gardening is always very much appreciated. For plastering and painting the walls you do not need
any previous knowledge, learning will happen along the way. For helping with constructing the floor
of the library it would be great if you have some basic DIY skills- but we gone show you anyway.
We, that is Justus who is a sculptor, and Katrin who is a social worker, are building a cultural center named the "Dove" in our village Bromskirchen. We love traveling and enjoy nature a lot. Katrin has already worked away in Sweden and
Belgium, Justus was in Australia and Canada Woofing and during the last tree years we had the great opportunity to become hosts ourselves. We
are curious to meet new people, share and exchange knowledge and stories with each other, and to
get to know you! Katrin is currently staying in Austria due to work, but she will probably be around
for a couple of weeks in summer.
We live in a 250 years old farmhouse, that has accommodated the family of Justus ‘grandmother
during the time of the second world war. It is a house that is filled with stories and memories which
we are happy to share with you. Besides, it is a fascinating building that preserved the knowledge
and work of the people who built it long time ago. We live very close ( 15 minutes walk) to a natural reserve and we
are surrounded by beautiful landscape with lots of hiking trails and a lake for swimming.Arten von Hilfe und Lernmöglichkeiten

We live very close ( 15 minutes walk) to a natural reserve and we are surrounded by beautiful
landscape with lots of hiking trails and a lovely lake.
Maybe you know the stories that have been collected by the brothers Grimm: They lived in this area,
inter alia in Marburg, a university city about 40 km from our house. We can show you the tower that
served as inspiration for the illustration of the tower of “Rapunzel”. We can also help you with
learning German if you want and we are happy to try to speak other languages as well. Both of us
speak English and Katrin speaks some basic Spanish and some very basic French.
You will have the possibility to learn about working with materials such as lime, clay and wood.
Depending on when you come, you will have the possibility to work together with a carpenter, a
conservator, and a professional in building tiled ovens. Whenever there is a workshop happening you
are welcome to attend.
Besides we are curious to get to know you and happy to learn from you!Arbeit
We are in the process of building a cultural center in our village.
The center will consist of two buildings: One large atelier with a small kitchen, a bathroom, a sleeping
place for artists in residence and a large (120m²) room that will be used for work/ concerts/ theatre/
workshops. The atelier has been built last year but it is not yet finished and there are
still many possibilities to engage into the building process and to learn from each other. The atelier is
built from wood, with walls made from a hemp- lime mixture and plastered with local clay ( we
produced the plaster ourselves). In case you are interested, Justus will be happy to share his
knowledge with you on working with hempcrete and clay plaster.
The other building used to be a barn and is part of our 250 years old farmhouse. We will turn it into a
library with an open fireplace; a place for people to gather, read, discuss, develop new ideas, learn,
exchange knowledge and also with a stage for concerts. We already plastered most of the walls with
clay but the plastering needs some final finishing in some places. Besides, the building will receive a
new floor, the open fireplace needs to be rebuilt and the “Gefache” will be renewed on the outside
of the building. “Gefache” is the space between the timber frames in a half-timebered construction.
We will work on the Gefache in July and August: A friend of ours who is a professional conservator
will join us and teach us how to do it. If you are interested in traditional building techniques your
welcome to join this process as well.
You can participate in all the above-mentioned processes and thereby learn from professionals and
maybe get some inspiration or tips for your own project. Or simply try out something you have never
done before.
Apart from that we could need help with updating the homepage of the cultural centre and
attending its social media profiles. If you are into photographing, graphic design, film etc. you might
also want to help us with producing content for social media, with the design of the cultural program
or with some advertising? Or maybe you have some good ideas for the new and upcoming classes and workshops and you want tot join the directors board of that team, please be wellcome!!
Last but not least, people who like to cook and would take over the kitchen are always welcome, the
same applies to people with gardening skills or those of you who are dedicated to keeping places tidy-the living area, the bathrooms- washing
:)
As you see, there are many different things that can be done here, so what you are going to do will
depend on what we are currently working on and of course on your talents and interests. Just let us know what
your interests are, what you already know and what you would like to learn so that we can figure out
something together.Sprachen

You will stay with us in a 250 years old former farm house (which is right next to the cultural center).
Depending on how many people are staying with us you will have your own room or maybe need to
share it with another person. We have two bathrooms in the house, you might need to share your
bathroom with other workawayers and there is a second living room which you are also welcome to
use beside the first living room. We usually eat together, trying to take turns with
cooking. Besides, food is in the kitchen and when you´re hungry you just take what you need. Was noch ...
We live in a very small village in the north of Hesse at the border to North Rhine Westphalia, right next to an area called “Sauerland”. The next train stations and Flix bus stops are in Frankenberg/Eder (15 km) and bit north in Winterberg (20 km). We have a car to pick you up by the station.
