  Hi! My name is Anh, and I’m currently living in Tamano, a peaceful seaside city in Okayama Prefecture, Japan. I recently took on a personal project to clean and restore an old traditional Japanese house. It’s a beautiful home with a lot of character, and my dream is to bring it back to life in the future.
  
  What I love most about Tamano is the peaceful atmosphere, friendly locals, and beautiful seaside scenery. This area is known for its relaxing pace of life, charming fishing ports, and easy access to islands like Naoshima, famous for contemporary art. In the evenings, you can take a walk to the beach and enjoy stunning sunsets over the Seto Inland Sea—it’s truly special.
  
  Our house is an old Japanese-style home with traditional features, and even though it needs cleaning and care, it has a warm, nostalgic feeling that many people fall in love with. You’ll get a taste of authentic Japanese countryside life, away from the busy city.
  
  This project is still in its early stages, so there’s plenty of room for creativity and ideas. If you enjoy tasks like cleaning, sorting, organizing—and want to experience real Japanese countryside life—this could be a great fit for you. No special skills are required, just a willingness to help and a positive spirit!

  Staying at our place gives you a chance to experience authentic Japanese countryside life in a quiet port town. Tamano is a peaceful city with friendly locals, beautiful ocean views, and easy access to places like Naoshima and other art islands in the Seto Inland Sea. You’ll get to stay in a traditional Japanese-style house, with old wooden architecture, which offers a unique insight into traditional living and design.
  
  Although we’re not always at the house during weekdays, we’re happy to spend time together on weekends, cook Japanese and Vietnamese meals, and share stories about life in Japan. I’ve traveled all across Japan, from Hokkaido to Okinawa, and I’d be happy to share travel tips, hidden spots, and personal stories from my journeys. If you're planning to explore Japan, I can give you lots of useful advice!
  
  If you’re interested, we can also teach you basic Japanese language, introduce you to local customs, or show you around the area. We love hearing about your country too—so it’s a true cultural exchange!

  Garbage separation in Tamano is quite strict—but don’t worry, I’ll teach you how to sort and dispose of trash properly in Japan. It’s a great way to experience daily life and local habits most travelers never get to see.

  Arbeit

  We mainly need help with sorting old stuff in our traditional Japanese house . Since the house hasn’t been used for a while, there are many items to go through—some to keep, some to throw away, and some to clean. It’s like a treasure hunt, and your help will make a big difference in bringing the house back to life!
  
  We expect you to help around 4-5 hours a day, but the schedule is very flexible, you’re free to do whenever it suits you. You can take breaks, explore the area, and create your own pace—we trust you!
  
  Your main tasks will include:
  - Sorting and organizing clothes, books, and household items
  - Bringing trash to the nearby trash station (just a 1-minute walk from the house)
  - Handing over items if someone comes to pick them up from the house
  
  If you’re self-motivated, enjoy tidying up spaces, and like peaceful environments, this is the perfect place for you.

  Unterkunft

  You’ll be staying in our traditional Japanese house with a cozy bedroom that has bed with tatami mats and a futon mattress. It’s a simple and peaceful space, perfect for relaxing after a day of light tasks. The house has a calm, nostalgic feel with traditional wooden design and sliding doors.
  
  There are basic facilities including a kitchen, toilet, bathroom and washing machine . You’re welcome to cook your own meals, and there’s a supermarket and convenience store within 10 minutes walking.
  
  🚿 Note: The hot water system is currently not working 🥲. In the meantime, we provide a large electric kettle you can use to boil water for bathing. There's also a very nice onsen just a 10-minute walk away, perfect for relaxing after work!
  
  While the house is old, it’s full of charm—and best of all, it’s just a 10-minute walk from the ocean where you can enjoy quiet walks, sea views, and sunsets.

  📅 Arrival Tip: Since I go to work on weekdays, it’s best if you arrive on a weekend for your first day.
  
  Other Information
  • Wi-Fi: Currently, there is no Wi-Fi in the house, so please bring a portable Wi-Fi device or SIM card if you need internet access.
  • Transportation: The house is about 15 minutes walk from Uno Station, which connects easily to Okayama City and the ferry to Naoshima.
  • Independent: Since we are usually not at the house during weekdays, this position is best for independent and self-motivated helpers who can manage their own time.
  • Language: Basic English is fine! I can also speak some Japanese and would love to help you practice if you’re interested.
  • Seasonal Considerations: The house may be chilly in winter or warm in summer, so please pack accordingly.
  
  Things to Do During Your Time Off
  • Explore Tamano: Take a walk through the city and explore its charming streets, fish local markets, fishing and traditional shops. You’ll get a taste of the quiet Japanese countryside lifestyle.
  • Visit Naoshima: The famous art island is just a short ferry ride away from Uno Port. Naoshima is home to several museums and outdoor art installations, including the Chichu Art Museum and Benesse House. It’s a must-see for art lovers!
  • Relax by the Ocean: Our house is only a 10-minute walk from the Seto Inland Sea. Spend your afternoons strolling along the beach, enjoying the sea breeze, or watching the sunset. It’s the perfect place to unwind.
  • Easy Access to Shikoku: If you’re interested in exploring beyond the Seto Inland Sea, Shikoku is just a short ferry ride away. You can visit cities like Takamatsu, or Tokushima. Shikoku is known for its beautiful nature, historic temples, and hot springs.
  • Bicycle Around: If you’re into cycling, you can lend you a bicycle to explore the area further. The coastline around Tamano is stunning, and there are scenic spots to enjoy.
  • Japanese Cultural Experiences: Take the opportunity to learn more about Japanese culture. Visit nearby shrines and temples, explore traditional tea houses, or try your hand at Japanese calligraphy or origami.
  • Hike in Nature: If you enjoy nature, there are beautiful hiking trails in the nearby mountains. The Setonaikai National Park is a wonderful place to explore.
  • Discover Local Festivals: Depending on the time of year, you may be able to attend local festivals or seasonal events in Tamano. They’re a great way to experience traditional Japanese culture and community life.
  • Day Trips to Okayama: If you want to explore more, Okayama City is nearby and has lots to offer, from Koraku-en Garden (one of Japan’s top three gardens) to the Okayama Castle.
