  Beschreibung

  We are the only hostel in Suriname!
  
  We are located in a beautiful wooden building in the centre or Paramaribo. This former guesthouse has been empty for a few year, after which we decided to transform it into a hostel. Together with our great staff and volunteers, we build it up to an interesting, cosy place where backpackers and travellers meet each other.
  
  Our hostel employs 10 permanent paid staff:
  
  - Four receptionists, working either in morning- or evening shift
  - Three housekeeping ladies
  - Three night guards
  
  The owner of the hostel is always close by.
  
  In addition to our paid staff, we have volunteers around most of the time, which is really helpful and ads an extra positive vibe to the hostel.

  As we are working with a lot of local businesses, such as restaurants, tourism agencies and guides, suppliers and contractors we hire for small fixes in the building, you will get to know a lot of local people with different backgrounds. As we are a small hostel with a small team, the personal interaction will also allow you to get to know our people, cultures and habits as we are happy to share them with you and lean from yours.
  
  Since you will be staying in the middle of the city, you will be able to walk in between heritage buildings and visit markets and the weekly bird singing context (no joke!) in our city centre. You are also close to Paramaribo's nightlife, where you can meet local youngsters. Further, there are many restaurants where you can taste local food, drinks and snacks!

  Arbeit

  We have a wide variety of work that you can help us with, depending on staffing and what we need help for at the moment. Besides that, we are open to your own ideas and things that you like or are good at.
  
  The work might include:
  
  - Reception shifts or helping the reception staff
  - Housekeeping shifts or support
  - Small maintenance
  - Gardening
  - Art projects, such as murals
  - Social media & marketing (e.g. content creation)
  - Website management
  - Digital marketing
  
  These are just some examples. If you're good at anything else that might be useful for a hostel, please let us know so we can consider!

  Unterkunft

  Depending on occupancy, our volunteers will stay in our volunteer room, which you might have to share with one other volunteer. If the volunteer room is occupied, you will sleep in one of our dorm rooms. We might have to ask you to move between rooms from time to time, but we'll make sure to keep that to a minimum.
  
  We will provide our volunteers with the possibility to make use of our kitchen and breakfast facilities. In our shared kitchen, you can prepare your own lunch and dinner as we have a stove, microwave, and other kitchen utensils.
  
  And rest assured: great food is inexpensive in Suriname and you will get staff discount for our partnering restaurants.

  Was noch ...

  In Suriname it's easy to go anywhere in the city by taxi. We also have a sister company that rents bicycles, which are safe to ride in this country. There are former plantations that you can visit for beautiful nature hikes. The historic centre is within walking distance from the hostel. It is also possible to book tours to the outback of Suriname where you can enjoy the beautiful Amazone rain forest.

  We have good and quite stable internet connection in the hostel. If the hostel isn't fully booked, you can use one of the private rooms to work. Otherwise you can work in our lounge/seating area or we will find another alternative.
