  NOW LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS 6 TO 13 MAY
  We are Andy, Magda, kids and animals! Andy is Scottish and Magda is Swedish and together we live on a small organic farm. We live in a green valley about 40 minutes by train or car from Gothenburg and a 10 minute drive to Tjörn and the west coast achipellago.
  We love where we live - especially during summer - and are the 4th generation of Magda's family to live on the farm. We grow organic vegetables and fruit for our own consumption and have sheep, chickens and and a friendly cat. We are primarily vegetarian.
  We both love live music and sometimes host music events at the farm. We are both quite handy and fix a lot around the farm. For example we built a tiny house and gypsy caravan which we can show you.
  
  We have both travelled and volunteered with workaway and love meeting new people and learning about other cultures. However, we are at the moment very busy with our kids, farm and day jobs and therefore warn our volunteers that we don't have much time to socialise and that you will cook your own food and entertain yourselves in our makeshift pub or out in nature most evenings! We prefer couples or two friends at a time for this reason.
  We think you can have a calm, happy stay with us and relax in the wild countryside around us!

  Kultureller Austausch und Lernmöglichkeiten

  We think its very important that a workaway experience is of benefit and fun for everyone involved, and we hope volunteers will learn new skills.
  While some of the work may be a bit dull and repetitive we hope those with an interest in getting back to nature and create a fun and meaningful life on the country side can find some inspiration here.
  
  We can teach you what we know about rural livelihood, vegetable growing and preserving, animal care, carpentry, tiny house construction and building on a budget, old variety grains, how to felt sheep wool rugs, some of our favourite folk tunes, and more and more and more!
  
  You can learn about both Swedish and Scottish culture, food and music.
  
  You can enjoy the beautiful woodlands, lakes and sea islands of west coast Sweden. You can have a calm peaceful time in the countryside and plenty of freetime to do as you wish.

  Arbeit

  The primary jobs we need help with are housework, making beds, washing and cleaning. We have a large family and often have guests coming and going. We appreciate this work isn't exciting but we assume it can go reasonably quickly if you are 2 folk and then there is more varied farm and gardening work we may need help with. In return we expect only 4 hours a day 5 days a week, you will get a cold buffet breakfast and we will provide and cook your lunches and dinners using mainly organic produce. If you wish to cook sometimes then great!
  
  On the farm we have a bunch of sheep and some chickens. If you wish you can help with feeding, moving them between pastures and fencing repairs. We also have a large vegetable garden and many fruit bushes and often need help weeding, planting and harvesting.
  
  
  There are always a few renovation projects on the go, simple building and painting projects, if its something you enjoy or would like to learn about then we welcome help with this.
  
  Appreciated skills are IT, photography, woodwork and gardening but we are happy to hear what your skills and interests are. We try to take two volunteers at a time. As we might not always have time to do tasks beside you, you must be able to carry out projects without continuous leadership, though of course it’s always ok to ask questions.
  
  If you are particularly interested in learning or helping with a specific thing let us know and we will try to take that into account when planning projects.

  Unterkunft

  You will have your own private bedroom in a guest building next to our house. There is a clothes cupboard, a lockable door, broadband wifi and of course elecricity. The room is about 10 square metres and is newly renovated but in a wooden building more than 100 years old with a lot of history and character,
  You have access to our "summer" kitchen with all modern conveniences and a bathroom with an electric shower and compost toilet. In the evenings you can hang out in our "pretend Scottish pub" in one of the farm buildings, its very cozy there and again there is broadband wifi there, and possibly friends playing board games or reading a book.
  
  We often have bikes and a canoe available and live near 2 lakes. Public transport is very limited here but there a lot of lovely walks and cycles and wild swimming spots.
  
  We provide 3 meals/day, breakfast, lunch and dinner. Breakfast you help yourself to, lunch does most days consist of a filling soup, salad and bread and dinner being the main meal. We eat vegan/vegetarian food and a lot of the content come from our own garden. Since we have small children it is more peaceful for everyone that we eat our evening meal separately!:)

  We live just outside a cozy village called Ucklum, which is on the banks of a lake and has a pizzeria, a small shop and (best of all) a community sauna. Its a short cycle to the lake which gets warm in the summer and there is a beach, a sauna and grilling places there. Also in the proximity there is a private woodland lake where you can go swimming, picking blue berries and sometimes see a moose. We live very close to the Svartedalens nature reserve which has lots of trails in the forest. If you enjoy camping we have basic camping gear you can borrow for days off.
  
  If you long for civilization, we are a 10 minute bus ride from Stenungsund where there is a cinema, shops, pubs and a direct train to Gothenburg (40mins). You are also close to the famous sea islands of the west coast (Tjörn, Orust, Klädesholmen) and some great sea swimming and kayaking spots.
  
  PLEASE NOTE PUBLIC TRANSPORT HERE IS QUITE LIMITED!
  It is worth to be aware of that there are only a few buses to and from Ucklum during weekdays -and none during weekends. But we do have bikes you can borrow and are happy to give you a lift to the train station in Stenungsund when we are anyways going.
