I stayed for one week at Brigitte's and I had such a nice time! To anyone looking at reviews, if you want to be surrounded by stunning nature, doing simple but satisfying work and staying with a lovely host, then this is the place!
During my stay, I could manage my own time, which I really liked. I cut weeds, cleaned the stables and fed the
… read more animals. It was fair and satisfying to do.
The area of the Vosges mountains, was stunning and there are some good walks you can do near the house. I also went to the village's candy factory, which was really interesting to see!
The animals were very friendly and funny! Chocolat the donkey was very characterful and his bestie Hannibal was super sweet. The cats were so affectionate and Laika, the dog, was so adorable... I will miss her so much!
Brigitte is so lovely and I really enjoyed speaking about culture and the world with her. She's also an amazing cook and made some great vegetarian meals during my stay :D. One of the days, she drove us to Freiburg im Breisgau and I was lucky enough to see Germany for the first time!
I got to meet Amalia, her granddaughter, who is super cute and very talented at drawing! I met one of her daughters too, Marie, who was nice enough to pick me up and drop me off from Colmar. We also had some lovely conversations!
Overall, I found the stay a perfect escape into nature and actually quite relaxing! I'll really miss the evenings watching TV or reading books by the fire with Brigitte. Thank you so much for having me Brigitte, I hope to come back and see the mountains in the summer. I wish you all the best!

She always had a lot of initiative and saw by herself where there were things to do or take care of, and she handled every task like a master (wood, fences, animal care, etc.). She was interested in everything and even dared to learn driving our old and rusty tractor. On top

One week turned into nearly 1 month, that's how much I enjoyed staying at Brigitte's. I felt welcomed from the very start and was well cared for.

… read more meals and cakes, enjoy good German beer, receive a private touristic tour through some interesting towns on the way to Freiburg, and visit a theatrical event in Plainfaing.
Brigitte lives in a beautiful home with views over the mountains, peaceful on a misty morning and relaxing at sunset. She knows the area very well and gave me tips for cycling and hiking routes.
I helped Brigitte with various tasks such as feeding the animals, splitting wood and strimming around the property. What I enjoyed most is that I was given the freedom to decide on the tasks of the day, which I could do at my own pace. Saturdays were something to look forward to as I'd have lots of fun working with Prof Remi. He took the time to explain things, answer my many questions, and he taught me quite a few new skills such as splitting large logs with a wedge and driving the old German tractor.

… read more dans les prés: tout cela dans une super ambiance (parfois accompagnée par d'autres volontaires). J'étais libre de réaliser ces tâches quand je le voulais, à mon rythme. Ce fût une très belle expérience humaine et méditative, j'espère pouvoir revenir vous rendre visite!

Chère Brigitte, merci pour cet accueil au sein de votre famille. Nous sommes très heureux.ses d'avoir fait votre connaissance. Ça a été très intéressant de découvrir un peu votre quotidien imprégné de la culture allemande. Antonia a aussi pu se sentir à l'aise et à la maison chez vous. Même s'il faisait très froid (-13°C dans la nuit avec beaucoup
… read more de neige), ce qui nous as empêché de travailler efficacement en dehors de la ferme (une grande part du travail chez Brigitte se concentre en extérieur auprès des animaux et de la ferme), nous avons aidé dans la maison et nourris les animaux tous les matins et soirs. Ici on se sentait déconnecté.es de tout. On apprend à vivre d'avantages de l'instant présent et le réveil à 7h du matin pour aller nourrir les bêtes dans le froid du soleil levant éclairant cette jolie montagne était en fait revigorant. En effet, travailler chez Brigitte semble comme méditatif. Cerise sur le gâteau, la petite Amalia était absolument adorable et faisait rayonner la maison même lorsque le soleil se couchait.
Comme Antonia et moi sommes venu.es à deux il était plus difficile de faire connaissance de la même façon qu'un WorkAwayer seul. Nous avons tout de même eu de bons moments avec la famille ; Brigitte et sa fille Hannah sont des personnes pleines de bienveillance et d'honnêteté.
Wir hoffen sehr, dass wir im Sommer nochmal die Gelegenheit haben vorbei zukommen. Vielleicht bis bald!

… read more chance de pouvoir nourrir les animaux (d’Hannibal le cheval, Chocolat l’âne, Francesca la chèvre, aux moutons, aux oies, aux cochons d’inde sans oublier aux lapins) et de bénéficier de leur contact si réconfortant, mais également de pouvoir cuisiner de temps en temps 😊 Des discussions près du feu, aux très bons petits gâteaux de Noël, à Laïka la chienne qui m’accompagnait à chaque fois pour aller nourrir les animaux, tout me manque. Mais ce qui me manque encore plus, c’est mes hôtes. Merci encore infiniment pour votre gentillesse, votre bienveillance, votre confiance. EN : Where to start ... It was my first workaway, and I couldn't have dreamed of a better one. I spent 12 amazing days here with Brigitte, Hannah, and Amalia. I was welcomed with open arms and felt here as if I was at home from the very first moments. The place is a real little corner of paradise and the view is sublime. I was lucky to be able to feed the animals (from Hannibal the horse, Chocolat the donkey, Francesca the goat, to the sheep, the geese, the guinea pigs without forgetting the rabbits) and to benefit from their comforting contact, but also to be able to cook from time to time 😊 From the discussions by the fire to the very good Christmas cakes to Laïka the dog who accompanied me each time to go out and feed the animals, I miss everything. But what I miss even more is my hosts. Thank you again infinitely for your kindness and your trust. Thank you for these beautiful walks in the snow, for the laughter, and for the smiles of Amalia, a real little ray of sunshine 😊 I left with a full heart, my head in the stars, and full of new energy to take life to heart again! … read more Brigitte et sa famille sont de bons vivants. Je repars riche de rêve de trouver et de créer mon petit coin de paradis à moi. J'ai apprécié également leur confiance et le fait d'être autonome dans l'aide apportée (je pouvais m'organiser comme je le souhaitais et j'étais plutôt libre sur le choix de la tâche/activité). Je regrette seulement de ne pas parler allemand car la barrière de la langue a été parfois pesante. La famille parle français mais il y a parfois des invités ne parlant pas français.
