Beschreibung
Hello everyone 🌿
We are Julia and Daniel, living together in our château in Chassey-lès-Scey, Haut-Saône, France. The château dates back to 1230 – a place full of history, charm and character. Life here is simple but rich: surrounded by nature, with animals, a large garden, and the many little and bigger tasks that such an old home brings.
About us
Julia is a psychological counsellor and coach, mostly working from home but traveling once or twice a month to Switzerland for teaching.
Daniel is a retired artist and a true allrounder when it comes to craftsmanship and renovation. He dedicates much of his time to maintaining and restoring the château – and he’s always grateful for helping hands.
We both love good food and enjoy cooking – mainly French, Italian and Asian cuisine. We’d be delighted to share our meals with you. While our kitchen isn’t strictly vegetarian or vegan, you’re warmly welcome to adapt the dishes to your own taste.
Our animal family
🐾 Two gentle but strong Newfoundlands, Maori and Chano (about 80 kg each). They are affectionate and well-behaved, but walking them requires physical strength and fitness, as unexpected situations can always arise.
🐴 Our sweet pony Canelle, calm and trusting.
🐐 Our curious goat Denep, full of playful energy.
Because of the dogs, we prefer to host male guests or strong women who feel comfortable with large animals. Above all, we are looking for guests who will treat our animals with the same love and care as we do – they are truly part of our family. 💕
Accommodation
Workawayers have their own little floor in the château: two bedrooms, a bathroom and a living room with a desk. This gives you both privacy and retreat, as well as the chance to spend time together with us – in the garden, on dog walks, or cooking in the château kitchen.
Shared spaces include the kitchen, garden, pool, main living room and the old Knights’ Hall – each adding to the special atmosphere of château life. WiFi and TV are available.
If your visa and travel plans allow, there may also be the possibility of joining us for a visit to our home in Switzerland during longer stays.
What kind of help is needed?
Life in a château is wonderful, but it comes with its share of work. We’d be happy for your support with:
🐾 Dog walks & animal care – walking our Newfoundlands, feeding and caring for the pony and goat.
🏰 Château maintenance & renovation – helping Daniel with renovation tasks, repairs, and keeping this historic place alive.
🧹 Housekeeping – assisting in keeping the house clean and cozy.
🌱 Garden & outdoors – gardening, light outdoor work, and keeping the grounds welcoming.
💦 Pool cleaning & shopping – helping with maintenance and occasional grocery trips.
🍲 Cooking & kitchen – if you enjoy cooking, your creativity is very welcome.
✨ Responsibility when we travel – once or twice a month we are in Switzerland. During those days, we need someone reliable to look after the animals and keep an eye on the house.
If you’re curious, you can also learn from Daniel how to build a shamanic drum – a very special craft he enjoys sharing. 🌟
We see this exchange as a balance: you bring your energy, reliability and joy into daily life here, and in return you get to experience the charm of château living, the company of lovely animals, and a warm home atmosphere.
Important note
✨ Please note: we are not looking for any business-related help. All tasks are purely related to our personal home, garden, animals and daily life at the château. ✨

Life in the Haut-Saône
The Haut-Saône is a beautiful and unspoiled region of France, full of gentle rolling hills, forests, rivers and charming little villages. Here you can truly slow down, reconnect with nature and enjoy the peace and quiet of the countryside.
Living in a historic château adds a very special touch to daily life – each stone tells a story, and the atmosphere is both grounding and inspiring. From the garden you can watch the sunsets over the fields, hear the birds in the morning, and sometimes even spot deer nearby.
At the same time, this part of France is all about “savoir-vivre” – the French art of enjoying life. You’ll find local markets with fresh produce, regional cheeses and wines, cozy cafés in Vesoul, and the relaxed pace that makes French rural life so unique. Whether you enjoy nature walks, cycling, exploring historic towns or simply sitting in the garden with a good book, you’ll discover a lifestyle that nourishes both body and soul.
Here you’ll have the chance to experience château life combined with French country charm – a mix of meaningful tasks, inspiring surroundings and moments of pure enjoyment.

Chano (3 Jahren)
Meet Chano 🐾
Chano is my male Newfoundland, and although he shares the same gentle giant nature as Maori, his personality has its very own flavor. He is a little more playful and curious, always ready to explore and to be part of whatever is happening.
Chano has a kind and loyal heart, and once he bonds with you, he will follow you with devoted trust. He can sometimes be a bit goofy in the most endearing way, making you smile with his clumsy charm and soft eyes.
Like every true Newfoundland, Chano loves water and long walks in nature. He is very sensitive, too – a big teddy bear who enjoys gentle pats, calm voices and simply being close. His presence brings warmth and a sense of security to the château family.Maori (3 Jahren)
Meet Maori 🐾
Maori is my Newfoundland lady – a big, fluffy bundle of charm. She has the typical gentle nature of her breed: calm, patient and incredibly affectionate. Maori loves to be close to people and has a way of looking at you with her deep, soulful eyes that makes you instantly feel at home.
She is very sensitive and intuitive, often picking up on moods and bringing comfort just by being around. Despite her size, she moves gracefully, and when she leans in for cuddles you can feel her warm and loving presence.
Maori adores her walks, enjoys a splash of water now and then, and is happiest when she’s part of the family action. With her soft heart and charming personality, she quickly becomes everyone’s friend.
