  Welcome to , a private nature reserve and rural ecolodge located in the Andean mountains of Boyacá, Colombia. Our family has cared for this land for over 40 years, focusing on ecological restoration, bird conservation, and environmental education. We live simply and close to nature, embracing a lifestyle of sustainability and respect for all forms of life.
  
  Here, we’ve turned a once-degraded cattle farm into a thriving native forest that now shelters hundreds of bird species, including hummingbirds and tanagers. Our mission is to protect biodiversity, share knowledge, and inspire others to reconnect with the Earth.
  
  We receive guests and birdwatchers from around the world, and also work with local schools and communities through educational and cultural projects. Volunteers become part of our family and help us with a variety of activities, from trail maintenance and organic gardening, to eco-construction, art, content creation or educational workshops, depending on your skills and interests.
  
  We speak Spanish but are happy to communicate in English as well. We welcome volunteers who are open-hearted, respectful of nature, and enthusiastic to contribute to a meaningful project.

Nuestra familia ha cuidado este territorio por más de 40 años, trabajando en restauración ecológica, conservación de aves y educación ambiental. Vivimos de forma sencilla, en armonía con la naturaleza y comprometidos con un estilo de vida sostenible y respetuoso con toda forma de vida.
  
  - transformamos una antigua finca ganadera en un bosque nativo que hoy alberga cientos de especies de aves, incluyendo colibríes y tangaras. Nuestra misión es proteger la biodiversidad, compartir saberes y motivar a otros a reconectarse con la Tierra.
  
  Recibimos visitantes y observadores de aves de todo el mundo, y también trabajamos con escuelas y comunidades locales a través de proyectos educativos y culturales. Los voluntarios se integran a nuestra familia y nos apoyan en diversas actividades, desde el mantenimiento de senderos y la huerta orgánica, hasta la bioconstrucción, el arte, la creación de contenido o talleres educativos, según sus habilidades e intereses.
  
  Hablamos español, pero también podemos comunicarnos en inglés. Damos la bienvenida a personas de buen corazón, respetuosas de la naturaleza y con ganas de aportar a un proyecto con propósito.

  Staying here is a unique opportunity for cultural and ecological exchange. Volunteers will experience daily life in a Colombian rural reserve committed to conservation, sustainability, and community well-being.
  You’ll learn about native plants and birds, traditional uses of the land, and ecological restoration processes. You'll also have the chance to practice or improve your Spanish, cook local food with us and understand the rhythms of life close to nature.
  We also work with nearby communities and schools, so there are opportunities to join educational or cultural projects that promote biodiversity and local knowledge.
  This is a place to reconnect — with nature, with yourself, and with a slower, more conscious way of living.
  
  Estar es una oportunidad única de intercambio cultural y ecológico. Los voluntarios podrán vivir el día a día en una reserva rural colombiana comprometida con la conservación, la sostenibilidad y el bienestar comunitario.
  Podrás aprender sobre plantas y aves nativas, usos tradicionales del territorio y procesos de restauración ecológica. También tendrás la oportunidad de practicar o mejorar tu español, cocinar con nosotros platos locales y conocer el ritmo de una vida más cercana a la naturaleza.
  Además, trabajamos con comunidades y escuelas cercanas, por lo que es posible participar en proyectos educativos y culturales que promueven la biodiversidad y los saberes locales.

  Arbeit

  We would love your help with a few creative and caring tasks around our home and nature reserve.
  We are currently looking for volunteers who can:
  - Paint murals or decorative details on some walls — especially if you enjoy art and nature-inspired designs.
  - Help feed and walk our friendly dog.
  - Assist with feeding the hummingbirds.
  - Take care of the house and plants when we are away for short periods.
  Most of the help is light and relaxed, and we always try to match tasks with your interests and skills. If you are responsible, love animals, enjoy nature, and feel comfortable in a peaceful, rural environment, you will feel right at home here!
  
  :) Nos encantaría recibir tu ayuda con algunas tareas creativas y de cuidado en nuestra casa y reserva natural.
  Actualmente buscamos voluntarios que puedan:
  - Pintar murales o detalles decorativos en algunas paredes — especialmente si te gusta el arte y los diseños inspirados en la naturaleza.
  - Ayudar a alimentar y sacar a pasear a nuestro perro, que es muy amigable.
  - Colaborar con la alimentación de los colibríes.
  - Cuidar la casa y las plantas cuando no estamos por cortos periodos.
  
  La mayoría de tareas son ligeras y tranquilas, y tratamos de asignarlas según tus intereses y habilidades. Si eres una persona responsable, amante de los animales, la naturaleza y te sientes cómoda en un entorno rural y tranquilo, ¡te sentirás como en casa!

  Unterkunft

  We offer a cozy private room with a double bed, private bathroom, and hot water.
  The room is part of the lodge home and surrounded by nature, with beautiful views and peaceful sounds of birds all around.

  La habitación hace parte de nuestra casa familiar y está rodeada de naturaleza, con hermosas vistas y el canto de las aves como compañía.

  During your free time, you can explore the trails of the reserve, observe birds and butterflies, read in a hammock, or simply enjoy the peaceful landscape. We encourage you to slow down, breathe deeply, and let nature guide your rhythm.
  This place is located near the town of Arcabuco, in the department of Boyacá. From here, you can easily visit charming places like Villa de Leyva (a colonial town full of culture and history), the Iguaque Flora and Fauna Sanctuary, or nearby natural parks and waterfalls.
  Public transportation from Bogotá is available daily to Arcabuco. From there, we can coordinate your pickup or provide guidance to reach the reserve.
  This is an ideal place for nature lovers, artists, and anyone seeking inspiration, silence, and a meaningful experience off the beaten path.
  
  En tu tiempo libre puedes recorrer los senderos de la reserva, observar aves y mariposas, leer en una hamaca o simplemente disfrutar del paisaje y la tranquilidad. Te invitamos a desacelerar, respirar profundo y dejar que la naturaleza marque el ritmo.
  - está ubicada cerca del municipio de Arcabuco, en el departamento de Boyacá. Desde aquí puedes visitar lugares encantadores como Villa de Leyva (un pueblo colonial lleno de historia y cultura), el Santuario de Fauna y Flora de Iguaque, parques naturales y cascadas cercanas.
  Desde Bogotá hay transporte público diario hacia Arcabuco. Desde allí podemos coordinar tu recogida o darte indicaciones para que llegues fácilmente a la reserva.
  Es un lugar ideal para amantes de la naturaleza, artistas y personas que buscan inspiración, silencio y una experiencia auténtica fuera de lo común.
