  Beschreibung

  This is an art and science school located in the rural Kichwa community of San Salvador, in the Muyuna parish of Tena, Ecuador. The site is situated in the rainforest—at the gateway to the Amazon—featuring crystal-clear rivers and rich biodiversity. We run an ongoing school program for children and young people, offering activities such as painting, dance, and singing.
  The community school facilities include a residence, two classrooms, a traditional hut, a sports court, and vegetable gardens.
  
  Within the community, there are family *chakras* (traditional agroforestry plots) producing crops such as *chonta* palm fruit, plantains, cassava, peanuts, cacao, coffee, and charcoal.

  Este es una escuela de arte y ciencia ubicada en la comunidad rural kichua de San Salvador, en la parroquia Muyuna de la ciudad de Tena, en Ecuador. El sitio es un lugar de la selva tropical, donde inicia la Amazonía, con ríos de agua cristalina y muchas biodiversidad. Tenemos una escuela permanente con niños y jóvenes para practicar pintura, baile y canto.
  En la escuela de la comunidad disponemos de 1 vivienda, 2 aulas, 1 choza, 1 cancha, huertos. En la comunidad tenemos chakras familiares con producción de chonta, plátano, yuca, maní, cacao, café, carbón,...

  We hope visitors can contribute their knowledge to the community's cultural development in the fields of arts and sciences; we do not engage with matters of ideology, religion, or politics.
  The community can share the way of life and culture of the Amazonian Kichwa peoples, covering areas such as language, cuisine, agriculture, traditional remedies, dance, customs, and beliefs.
  Workshops with the community would allow visitors to learn about the reality of the Amazonian Kichwa peoples and the biodiversity of their environment; likewise, the presence of visitors would serve as a tremendous source of motivation for community members.

  Esperamos que los visitantes puedan aportar con conocimientos para el desarrollo cultural de la comunidad en los ámbitos de las artes y las ciencias, no trabajamos en ámbitos de ideologías, religión y política.
  La comunidad podrá enseñar la forma de vida y cultura de los pueblos kichuas amazónicos, en los siguientes ámbitos: los idiomas, la gastronomía, la agricultura, los remedios, los bailes, las costumbres y las creencias.
  Los talleres con la comunidad permitirían que los visitantes puedan conocer la realidad de los pueblos kichuas de la Amazonía, así como la biodiversidad del entorno que habitan, del mismo modo la presencia de los visitantes significaría una inmensa motivación para los miembros de la comunidad.

  We need visitors who can help with the group of children and young people, leading arts and science workshops as a contribution to the community's cultural development. No physical labor is required other than tending the school gardens and preparing food.

  Unterkunft

  A private home that was once part of the community school has been renovated for visitors. Meals can be prepared by the visitors themselves or in collaboration with local families.
  
  We offer great flexibility regarding dining: visitors can share lunch with local families or be provided with local ingredients to prepare breakfast and snacks to their own liking. We can make arrangements based on individual preferences and the size of the group.

  Se ha renovado para los visitantes una vivienda particular que formó parte de la escuela de la comunidad. Las comidas pueden ser preparadas por los propios visitantes, o también podrían ser preparadas con las familias de la comunidad.
  
  Podemos ser muy flexibles con la alimentación, pudiéndose compartir el almuerzo con las familias al medio día, y también proveerlos de los productos de la localidad para que puedan prepararse el desayuno y merienda a su gusto. Nos podemos organizar en función del gusto de cada persona y del número de visitantes.

  The community is located 10 minutes from the city of Tena by car, and even closer are free river swimming areas, as well as Ikiam University, which has a library and regularly offers science courses and workshops. It is important to avoid the use of any type of drugs in the community.
