… read more distressing. Even tough we were just getting to know each other, they opened their house's doors to us, and sed that we can stay with them as much as we need. They were cosy, kind and lovely the whole time that we spent living with them. Always understanding, easy going and friendly. They showed us several good places around Svinninge, and also shared typical Danish celebrations during our stay. We could learn a lot about their Danish culture, how to cultivate vegetables, raise farm animals, and about the fascinating Mongolian culture thanks to Benedikte. We fell in love with all the pets that live in the house. We will never forget Miska, Snowball, Snowhite,and Prince. This lovely household was a great introduction for us as it was our first time in Denmark. Mikael and Benedikte taught us a lot about Danish culture and were always super helpful with anything we needed. Through them, we met some really cool people, their friends from all walks of life who all have interesting stories to tell, including our hosts.

Also, almost every day we would eat together which is a really nice habit and was a great way for us to try new tasty treats.
We came to their place while they had a ton of adorable kittens and three adult cats which we fell in love with. Prince, the adult male plays hard to get but is actually the cuddliest cat we've ever seen in our entire lives, so don't be afraid to pet him even though he looks badass. The animal-related work wasn't hard at all, regular daily stuff most of the time. The most challenging thing regarding that was walking Miska just because she's young and still needs training. But anyone who knows how to handle a dog and be stern and more stubborn than the dog itself should be fine.
The kids are cute, but we didn't communicate that much with them just because of the language barrier. I'm sure that will change with time though. :)
All in all, our stay at Benedikte and Mikael's was a really nice experience, we would recommend it to everyone and as we will be in Denmark for another while hopefully, we will see each other again. :)

Zalo and Vicki are the perfect workawayers. They are sweet, talkative, open-minded and hard-working and skilled in all kind of areas. They helped us with preparing a couple of treasure hunts for children. They made beautiful drawings for the treasure hunt and taught the kids Japanese origami and they were both actors during the treasure hunt
… read more (Nordic gods) and the kids just loved it. Both Vicky and Zalo is very creative. They also did a lot of cleaning and did it just perfectly. For one week, they were alone in the house, taking care of our German shepherd and other animals. Our dog loved them both and they took very good care of her and trained her as well. It was just a pleasure to host Vic and Zalo, as we had so many nice talks and as they always were very helpful and always did more than we asked for. We miss you and wish you all the bestFeedback

We were lucky to host Milagros for a month, where she helped us with cleaning, gardening, looking after the kids and our sometimes wild puppy. Milagros easily became part of our family as she is a very positive person, always smiling, interesting to talk with and a little bit quiet making it very easy to include Milagros in the family. Milagros is confident in travelling alone and an independent woman, who both enjoyed spending time with us, but also sometimes chose to read a book or watch a movie on her own. This also made it easy to host Milagros, as we both had wonderful times with her and yet could maintain our private family time. Thank you Milagros for all your help and please come and visit us again. Also thank you for the empanadas and cakes...Milagros is an excellent cook and baker.

It was like a minute ago that I left the house and I already miss them. Benedikte and Mikael are really nice and great hosts. They will treat you as a part of the family for sure. Also Maria, Jasmine, Rosita and Silas are really friendly so you will have a good time with all of them.

The work was super easy. I mostly did housekeeping and gardening. Oh, and I walked with Miska. Miska is a puppy full of energy, a little wild sometimes, but really really sweet.
I had a lot of free time, you have to work only for a few hours and then you are free to do whatever you want. You can make some tea and read a book or just go to ride a bike. Svinninge is a really nice place to explore.
Benedikte and Mikael thank you so much for your kindness. I had the most interesting talks with you two, and thank you for keeping up with my rusty english.

… read more it's really not hard work. You definitely have a lot of your own time to explore the surroundings, and you could probably also explore Copenhagen during the weekend. And you probably will be lucky enough to join some events nearby with the family when they have time. I was so lucky, The family took me to some farm events during one of the weekends, We had a lot of fun on the mink farm and potato farm and I learned quite a lot of things about the mink production in Denmark. it's was really nice.
I felt like being treated as a part of the family after we know each other, and they are very patient open-mind and helpful. The kids are very cute, but it's very a pity my Danish is not good enough to talk with them. Anyway, I really enjoy the family atmosphere there and I like the way that the parents get along with their children, the children's ideas get respected and the parents always have time and want to spend more time with their children, that means a lot.
There are so many things I want to talk about, but I think it's probably better to find out by yourself. One thing I can promise, you won't feel regretted or stressed when you do workaway in the Danish countryside and especially stay with this amazing Danish family.

… read more have a lovely house and an amazing kitchen. Mikael cooked me some traditional Danish foods which was really nice! They are both very good cooks and really tried with vegetarian cooking.
The house is warm and they have a great wood fire which was lovely when it was cold. The location is secluded and it would have been better if it was a bit warmer. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t the best because of the time of year and didn’t really entice me to leave the house. However, there is a bike, which you can use! The family are all at work/school for most of the day. The work is not hard, I helped with cleaning and preparing food. Mikael also took me to the school to pick up the children and we also did a little shopping.
They took me out on the weekends and I experienced being part of a Danish family. We went for walks and went to a sweet little cafe.
On my last day I helped clean out the chickens and collected stones which I really enjoyed and it made a very memorable last day!

… read more almost a year has gone, as he became a friend for life and family member and as he made our life much easier and full of fun and interesting conversations in the months we were lucky to host him. Facundo is a talented carpenter, for instance our balcony was falling apart and he rebuild it, we lacked a door for the stable and he made it and he made it much nicer than we could have hoped. Also Facundo likes to work, so he often worked much more than we had asked him for. He cooked wonderful Argentian food, fixed our computers, cleaned, did various renovation work and always with a smile. Many evenings we had interesting conversations with Facundo and lots of fun. Facundo soon became like a family member for us and for our kids, who also still misses him. So please host Facundo, you will not regret, but be sure to tell him that he soon will have to visit us again.

Since the moment you step a foot in that house you feel like home. They are excellent people, and they will treat you
… read more as family. They will include you in their activities, invite you to go places with them or help you to go where you need. You'll meet a lot of their friends and family, since they are truly social people.
I stayed with them two and a half months (I wouldn't recommend to stay that long, because after some time you won't feel like leaving :) ), and had the best time. Not only they are really nice people, they are great hosts when it comes to the "official" part of the deal.
We shared so many good moments, that they are now my Danish family and I will always be grateful on how good and caring they were (and still are) with me.
So bottom line don't stay with them, because later on you will not want to leave.

Svinninge offers beautiful nature and lots of cute little places to explore and it's also only one hour away from the capital in case you'd get bored.
