  Hello! 👋
  We are Josy (37) and Itay (36), a couple from Germany and Israel, living on a peaceful 1-hectare land in the countryside of Carregal do Sal. 🌲 Our home is surrounded by nature, with 2 dogs, 3 cats, and chickens providing fresh eggs 🥚.
  We also run 2 guesthouse properties, keeping us busy all year-round. 🏕️
  We're part of a bigger expat community in the Oliveira do Hospital area, where we enjoy attending local markets, small parties, and all kinds of events and workshops. We're excited to meet like-minded people and share our little slice of paradise with you! 😁
  
  We live super close to a town called Carregal do Sal, where you can find supermarkets, restaurants, laundry places and a train station with connections to Porto, Lisbon and Coimbra.

You'll not only learn new skills in construction and land maintenance, but you'll also get to know the local community and the lovely countryside around. We'll share our knowledge and experiences with you, and we're excited to learn from you too!
  
  Who knows, you might even get inspired to start your own farm one day! Our farm is a great place to learn the ins and outs of rural living, and we're happy to share our expertise with you.

  Arbeit

  We're looking for someone to lend a hand with various tasks around our property! We're currently working on a small studio project and would love some extra help with tasks like mixing cement, carrying materials, and general labor. 🔨
  In the future, we might need assistance with wood working projects too.
  
  Beyond this, we're also looking for help with:
  - Land maintenance, especially with autumn cleanup 🍂
  -Winter preparation - cleaning up the forest, cutting wood and stacking 🪓
  - Gardening tasks, like pruning, weeding, and planting 🌻
  - Walking our 2 lovely dogs and giving them some exercise 🐾
  - Assisting with the upcoming olive harvest 🌿
  - Other general tasks to keep our little slice of paradise running smoothly 🐣
  - you will NOT be taking part in any of the guest house activities
  
  If you're handy, love the outdoors, and enjoy working with your hands, come and join us!

  Unterkunft

  Accomodation 🌳🏠
  You will stay in a cute wooden cabin on a private terrace in a small forest. (see in the photos) .The cabin is fully equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay, including:
  
  - Fresh sheets and towels
  - Soaps and essentials
  - a well equipped kitchen
  - A private bathroom with hot water and a compost toilet
  - wifi
  
  Food 🥗
  During the workweek, we'll have a delicious vegetarian brunch, with whatever there is from our garden and eggs from our chickens.
  We are usually eating together, whenever its possible. We will provide tasty vegetarian food for you :D
  On days where its not possible, we will provide groceries for you that you can prepare yourself in your fully equipped kitchen.

  Was noch ...

  - Getting Around: We have a scooter available for trips to town, but having a car would be super helpful for exploring the area and attending local events. We have a long list with things to to in the area. Swimming/Picnic spots, hiking trails, bike tours, day trip and restaurants...you won't be bored in your free time :D
  
  - Pets: Unfortunately, we can't host volunteers with dogs, as our furry friends are quite territorial and need their space.
  
  - Children: Due to the cabin's size, we're unable to accommodate families with kids.
  
  - Preferred Volunteers: We'd love to host couples or single guys who can lend a hand with heavier tasks like cement work. Right now this is the help we need. It might change in spring time when its a lot more about planting and gardening.
