    Beschreibung

My name is John Mwangi and my partner Joyce and myself are blessed with 3 children one of whom is Roy (after whom the foundation is name) who was diagnosed with epilepsy and erb's palsy.

Our organization is based in Kikuyu Town where our offices are located, some 20km from Nairobi City CBD in a semi urban settlement area. We help people with epilepsy and erb's palsy, people with other long term conditions and people with disabilities and their families through initiatives that allow them to develop skills that will earn them consistent income.

Medicine and Therapy is key for proper care, however it is expensive to afford let alone sustain therefore enabling those diagnosed with epilepsy and erb's palsy increase their income will help them afford better care and reduce the strain on their families.

We also work to increase awareness around epilepsy and erb's palsy in order to reduce the stigma in the society. Epilepsy is like a taboo or a curse in most communities in Kenya and our aim is to increase awareness, reduce the stigma and ensure proper care and wellness is provided to those diagnosed with epilepsy and/ or erb's palsy.

We also received 15 desktop computers from Safaricom Foundation through the Ndoto Zetu program and we are using them to run a digital skills training centre and a co working space for our members and community.
We are in need of volunteers who can help us train and transfer digital and computer skills to our students and members.

We also run a small community library with some magazines, children books, novels and books about nature. We are accepting book donations so you can carry some books to donate or reach out through our email to see how you can send them to us.

Finally, we are also starting home social worker visits. These visits are tailored to teach the caregivers proper nutrition, wellness and care of people with long term conditions and/ or disabilities. We will also use the visits to assess the socio, economic, medicinal ad wellness (mental and physical) needs of the affected persons and their caregivers. This is to see what socio economic empowerment activities and trainings we can offer to the affected persons and their caregivers to help them generate sustainable income.

We look forward to hosting you as you help us with our initiatives and programs as we have fun.
