Beschreibung
We live on a sixty acre community with five shares. Each share has its own garden; we care for the land together and share our crops. The house on our share is high on a ridge, with magnificent views of the Koonyum range and up in to the rainforest and easterly views to the sea. It is beautiful and quiet and peaceful. We are a quiet and fun-loving non-smoking international community. We are ecologically conscious and spiritually oriented, and we are moving towards being self-sustaining. We enjoy games nights and working together in our organic garden, going to the beach, meditating and celebrating life.

Kultureller Austausch und Lernmöglichkeiten
Travellers will be immersed in life in rural Australia. They will learn about local conditions, about our weather patterns (sub tropical), the way of life of “whitefellas” and a bit of lore about aboriginal life as well. They will learn some local history, as this land was subject to clearcutting for cattle and then banana plantations. We are regenerating our land at Bindarri with rainforest plants. We use some permaculture techniques for our gardens and fields. We are not typical rural Australians from this area, as we come from various other places, but visitors can expect to have varied and interesting interactions with a variety of cultures.

Arbeit
Caring for the land is our main priority, and we would love to have help with gardening and land care. This would include maintenance of vegetable gardens, orchards, and eradication of invasive plant species in our fields (no chemicals are used) and odd jobs. work is varied and we are very relaxed and believe that everyone must be happy for a functioning community.

Unterkunft
There are three accomodations. A room with a self-contained, indoor kitchen/living room with sliding glass doors, comfy sofa and a gypsy caravan, cosy with double bed, and storage space. Private with beautiful views. Due to having a lot of people come and some staying, we have set up a lovely two room tent on platform in the orchard, which is comfortable and private, with a kitchen set up nearby. There is also a small bedroom with Queensized bed in the large shed that is community space. There are tables and chairs and sofa and kitchen.
Volunteers prepare their own meals in the kitchen provided with the accomodation, but we have occasional group meals with the community. There is a garden and orchard to eat out of.
This is a community of young people with some permanent residents (often came with workaway), from all over the world. We're on sixty acres and we have a beautiful loving cat and two dogs and chickens and birds galore, and a few wallabies too.

Mullumbimby is a rural small town in the hinterland north west of Byron Bay. It is unusual in that it has attracted conscious alternative people from all over the world. The area is culturally rich with something for everyone……chanting, theatre, live music, great pubs, yoga classes and many varieties of retreats, fabulous beaches, bush walking, alternative therapies, surfing, parachuting, kayaking, art galleries and many interesting events. Mustn't forget the abundance of fabulous restaurants.
Mullum is 5 minutes away by car. We have electric bicycles and are also happy to take you in to catch a bus to Byron Bay which is 20 minutes away. There is always someone going up and down to Mullum or the beach every day. There's much activity and support within the community. Ballina and Gold Coast airports are 35 minutes away and we are willing to pick you up if necessary. There is also a lovely beach at the sleepy little town of Brunswick Heads 10 minutes from Mullum.
