  Hello, we are Rachel and Zacha. We are in the process of cleaning up a small ruin in El Palmar, a neighborhood in the mountain above Buenavista del Norte in Tenerife. Starting in a couple of weeks, a professional builder will be helping us with the major structural work, including reinforcing the walls, electric, plumbing and replacing the roof. Our challenge is to have all of the building materials ready to go before he and his team start work! As we will be using recycled wood and stone that is already on the land, there is a lot of preparation to do.

  Hola, somos Rachel y Zacha. Estamos en el proceso de restaurar una pequeña ruina en El Palmar, un barrio en la montaña sobre Buenavista del Norte en Tenerife. Dentro de un par de semanas, un constructor profesional nos ayudará con los trabajos estructurales de los edificios, incluido el refuerzo de las paredes, la electricidad, la fontanería y el reemplazo del techo. ¡Nuestro desafío es tener todos los materiales de construcción listos antes de que él y su equipo comiencen a trabajar! Como usaremos madera reciclada y piedras que ya se encuentran en el terreno, hay mucha preparación por hacer.

  We hope that you enjoy exploring the westernmost corner of Tenerife. Home to Parque Rural de Teno and situated between the mountains and the sea, there is plenty of nature to explore during your stay in la Isla Baja. We speak both Spanish and English, so there is also the opportunity to practice either or both languages.

  Esperamos que disfrutes explorando el rincón más occidental de Tenerife. Hogar del Parque Rural de Teno y situado entre las montañas y el mar, hay mucha naturaleza para explorar durante su estancia en la Isla Baja. Hablamos tanto español como inglés, por lo que también existe la oportunidad de practicar uno o ambos idiomas.

  Arbeit

  For the next few weeks, we could use some help with:
  
  - Sanding boards and support beams
  - Applying treatment to wood (nontoxic)
  - Pruning back brush and vines from the current roof and around the house
  - Building a pond structure in the garden
  - If you are a carpenter, help building door and window frames would be amazing :)
  
  All personal protective equipment (gloves, mask, helmet) will be provided as needed.
  
  In exchange for 4 hours of help per day, you will be provided your own room to sleep (individual bed for one, floor mat if you are two) and you are welcome to share meals with us.

  Durante las próximas semanas, nos vendría bien un poco de ayuda con:
  
  - Lijar tablas y vigas de soporte.
  - Aplicar tratamiento a la madera (no tóxico)
  - Poda de maleza y enredaderas del techo actual y alrededor de la casa.
  - Construir una estructura de estanque en el jardín.
  
  - Si eres carpintero, ayuda a construir marcos de puertas y ventanas sería fantástico :)
  
  Se proporcionará todo el equipo de protección personal (guantes, mascarilla, casco) según sea necesario.
  
  A cambio de 4 horas de ayuda por día, se te proporcionará tu propia habitación para dormir (cama individual para uno, una estera en el suelo si son dos) y eres bienvenid@ a compartir comidas con nosotros.

  This part of the island is peaceful and full of nature to explore. In your time off, we recommend you explore the local shops, cafes and restaurants, go for a hike in the mountains, take a dip in the swimming holes along the coast and attend local cultural events. There is direct a bus that runs between Parque Rural de Teno and Icod de los Vinos every 30 minutes during the week and every hour during the weekend.

  Esta parte de la isla es tranquila y llena de naturaleza para explorar. En tu tiempo libre, te recomendamos explorar las tiendas, cafeterías y restaurantes locales, hacer una caminata por las montañas, hechar un bañito en los charcos por la costa y asistir a eventos culturales locales. Hay un bús que circula entre el Parque Rural de Teno y Icod de los Vinos cada 30 minutos entre semana y cada hora durante el fin de semana.
