Looking for workawayers for the season May-October.

Dear friends, we will be happy to accept you as our helper! For you will be a unique possibility to travel to a beautiful mountain village and live surrounded by art and artists saving your money.

    Who we are:

We are two artists: I am Claudia from Turin, Italy, and my husband Sergey is from Russia. We travelled for a while with our art project In Kind Exchange. We bartered portraits for food, accommodation and travel tickets. Now we are based in Italian Alps. The first house where we settled and lived in was a result of a barter.

When we got the house it was an abandoned building. We renovated it and turned into an art space. We define it as art residency: a creative and exhibition space, where artists can get inspiration and are welcomed to work. Anyone is invited to interact with artists. In the warm season every weekend there is something interesting, like a concert, an exhibition or a performance.

By the way in 2020 our little Yara was born, she is the youngest member of our art residency community :)

    What to expect:

It is important that you understand that a place is neither a hostel, nor ashram, nor a squat nor a spiritual ecovillage. Here we have different aesthetics and different principles of work and life organization. Neither horizontal equality nor pyramidal hierarchy are practiced here. The house is inhabited by three groups of people: artists, helpers and guests. Each group contributes to the development of the project. Artists fill the house with their art, guests support the residence financially, helpers help with the housework. These are the three big whales that support the little world of our residence.

    What we expect:

Regardless of what exactly motivated you to come and what is your material contribution to support the project, if you declare yourself a helper, we will expect your help. Help is a solution to the challenges we face. We cope with these challenges ourselves, but we invite helpers to deal with it because we must work on several other tasks requiring our personal involvement. This means that we will not always work together. In some cases, we will work with you as a team, but more often you will have to cope on your own. However, we are always ready to explain, show and teach you. We will also do our best to make your stay comfortable, tasty and interesting.

So, the duties of helpers include:

    - house and territory cleaning
    - help in the kitchen
    - taking care of plants in the garden
    - preparation of firewood for the winter
    - assistance in repair and restoration
    - harvesting
    - babysitting

Perhaps for some reason, you are not ready to do some of these tasks, but you are very good at something else. Tell us about it right away, and we will decide in advance the right duties for you.

We are one hour and fifteen minutes from Turin, a city that worthwhile to explore. The city is plenty of museums and interesting spots. Our house is located in the municipality of Rorà, a small village that you can reach walking 15-20 minutes from our house. In Rorà there is an interesting museum about the local culture. There are also a small grocery shop and a public library.

If you love nature, you can enjoy the surrounding area: there are a lot of pathways around our house. 10 minutes walking from us there is a waterfall with an amazing natural swimming pool where you can have a fresh bath. Everyday there is something new to discover around, even for us.

You can reach us taking a direct train from Torino Porta Susa or Torino Lingotto to Pinerolo. From Pinerolo train station you need to take a bus to Luserna San Giovanni (901 - direction Torre Pellice). It is a 20 minutes ride. The bus departs just in front of the ticket office at the Pinerolo train station. If we can, we will meet you in Luserna San Giovanni bus stop. Otherwise you can easily hitchhike to our house or have a long walk (about 2 hours). If you hitchhike, feel free to invite the driver for a coffee at the place. The address is Via Maestra, 4 - 10060, Rorà
