Hi there!
My name is Anneke, self-employed business coach, age 55, happily living in the country side with my dogs, cats, sheep, goat, Guinneafowl, chickens and (runner) ducks.
In 2016, my ‘permaculture journey’ began: I bought a plot of land (almost 1.5 ha) in the southeast of the Netherlands, close to the Belgian border. The land had a tiny old farmhouse on it. I read books by Bill Mollison and Martin Crawford and started transforming the terrain to create a food forest- and permaculture-based system. I took a year-long Permaculture Design Course and found that the Permaculture Principles (care for people, care for the earth, fair share) are best practiced with others. It has been one big journey to enjoy.
In 2022, I welcomed my first WorkAway guests and thoroughly enjoyed the experience, which prompted me to continue hosting throughout 2023! Following a turbulent 2024 when I was unable to accommodate guests, I'm delighted to offer WorkAway stays once again in 2025.

You will have the opportunity to learn about permaculture design, small eco-footprint living, and experimenting with growing, processing, and building using reclaimed and bio-based materials. Additionally, you'll gain experience in conserving harvest through dehydrating, fermenting, and pickling food.
Arbeit
I could use some help in the edible garden, tending to the orchard and woods, and designing and building facilities with recycled materials. This includes creating shelters for the sheep and storage for garden tools, as well as growing and processing bio-based materials.
I love nature and all living creatures. People say I am easygoing and genuinely interested in others.

Unterkunft
Accommodation: Tiny caravan or 4-person tent if caravan is occupied.
Facilities: Outdoor hot shower. Outdoor kitchen/shelter (built by previous volunteers). Laundry available. Indoor toilet in main house (shared).
Food: Vegan meals, coffee, tea provided Monday-Friday. Food supplies available for weekend trips.
Schedule: Work Monday-Friday. Hours flexible, self-directed. Tasks are relaxed (according to previous volunteers).
Weekend requirement: Property closed to volunteers Friday evening through Sunday evening. Bicycles and trekking tent available for exploring. Area excellent for walking/cycling. This weekend break is essential for host wellbeing - non-negotiable arrangement.

If you love being in nature and are a morning person (I get up between 5 and 6), this is a great place to stay. Starry nights, quiet surroundings, greenery, and wildlife make it special. The area is ideal for walking and cycling. You can borrow my bicycle and trekking tent to explore the region on weekends. The bus to the nearest train station (Weert) takes 30 minutes, and the bus stop is a 15-minute walk away (with a limited schedule).
