We are Belal and Nadine, an Egyptian/German couple trying to spread a mission of (introducing the outdoors as a gateway for self-discovery on our horse farm on the Red Sea in Nuweiba, Egypt.

We started our farm in 2020 when it was nothing but sand and rocks in the desert between the mountains and the sea. Three years later, we have transformed it into an olive grove, vegetable garden, horse stables, goat pen, home, and accommodation for guests.

We are extremely proud of this achievement and it all couldn’t have been done without the help from workers, friends, and volunteers from around the world. Our aspiration is to continue building up our farm’s vegetation and developing it into a place that gives people time and space for reflection, where we can host projects such as equine-assisted
therapy, rock-climbing and trekking expeditions in the wilderness, and meditation retreats.

Living at the farm will offer people a chance to get in touch with nature, learn and develop skills, meet new people, and share their insights. We hope this experience will inspire people in their own lives and guide them along their journey to self-healing, self-discovery, and self-development. We truly believe that we all have the capacity to do great things and lead great lives. We are here to be the best companion for those on the journey of seeking a better version of themselves. A bit more about ourselves and our personal journeys:

    Belal:
I explore my potential and learn about life through adventure and connecting with people outdoors.
And I empower people to do the same.

Four years ago, some dramatic changes happened in my life, and rather than staying in the big city and seeing a therapist I decided to take my time and space to reflect on what happened. So I went to Dahab and started hiking regularly in the desert, traversing ancient trails, valleys, canyons, and mountains, meeting and sharing with locals and visitors from all over the world.

I did this for six months. During this time, I learned how to reflect, forge meanings, gain insights into life, share, and set the environment to empower others to do the same. Because of my belief that everyone has a story, full of lessons and insights to inspire others, we just need the right moment and environment to share without feeling ashamed or embarrassed.

With this belief I founded, an organization that leads expeditions in the wilderness, to create an environment for people to heal, develop, and explore the universe inside and out. We do outdoor sports such as rock climbing, trekking, and horse riding as we believe this puts us in a closer connection with nature and our true selves. Only once we discover our true selves can we start to heal our wounds and develop into the best version of ourselves.

With the challenges of COVID in 2020, our journey took a new turn and we started a farm in Nuweiba in South Sinai. We took the patch of sand and rocks and bit by bit developed it into a functioning farm, and a new home for myself and my family. We never had any experience with farming and didn’t know how it would turn out but seeing our ability to transform the land by planting trees, moving rocks, constructing buildings, and digging wells, gave us new insights into our ability to change ourselves, and how the farm could be a place for self-discovery/healing/development for others.

The farm has become an extension of my earlier work. We have hosted volunteers and guests from around the world, and with every new person that comes, I learn more about myself and others.

I am not a therapist, certified coach, mentor, advisor, or trainer. I am a human being learning through my life experiences. I am a son, brother, friend, husband, and ex-father. I am an entrepreneur, freelancer, and employee for corporations and startups in the field of human resources management and development. I am a volunteer for different civil and development organizations.

    Nadine:
In 2015, I had a severe accident that left me in the hospital for months. During this time my perspective of life changed dramatically, and I no longer wanted to continue living the kind of life saw around me in Germany. I envisioned a new life for me, free from traditional barriers, where I could follow my values and aspirations.

In 2016, while doing an internship in Dahab, I met Belal and started collaborating with his project. I helped with the website, and digital marketing and also took part in expeditions. At the same time, I started developing my own business – a platform that seeks to empower women by helping them start their online career as virtual assistants.

Because of the business’ growth, it is now taking up most of my time. I am still involved with Belal's project and the farm’s development but more in a background role. This means that during your stay you will be more in contact with Belal, and may or may not see me as I am based in Dahab but do come to the farm from time to time.

We need experienced volunteers for our horse farm, that believe in our mission and are keen to
    contribute to our aspirations.

Volunteers with the following skills are needed:

    Horses:
    - Horse training
    - Equine-assisted therapy
We have 8 adult and 2 newborn horses. Most of them, or their parents, are rescues and are recovering from trauma. They are beautiful horses with unique personalities but need training in dealing with people. Volunteers who have had experience with horses, have owned horses themselves, or are interested in the practice of equine-assisted therapy, are the kind of people we are looking for.

    Farm:
    - Organic farming/Permaculture design
    - Composting and soil improvement
    - Irrigation maintenance and improvement
    - Olive grove maintenance and harvesting (when season)
As the farm is still in its early stages (currently we have some small olive and fruit trees, some vegetable gardens a greenhouse, and an area where we grow food for the horses), we need volunteers who have experience with organic farming/permaculture, soil improvement and irrigation. Anyone who can help the farm continue to grow has ideas to improve its functioning, and create a more sustainable environment, would be greatly appreciated.

    Marketing:
    - Marketing, website, and social media
    - Good writing, editing (photo/text), and communication skills in English
    - Familiarity with SEO, keyword research and Google Analytics is a plus
    - Filming and photography

Volunteers with experience in digital marketing, social media (we are currently active on Facebook, Instagram and tripadvisor) and website design are also needed.

The farm is a social place, with volunteers, workers, and friends coming here from across Egypt and the world. We often cook together, share meals, and help each other with keeping the farm tidy. We also have animals – goats, 3 dogs, and two cats – which need food, water and love. Currently, we have several full-time workers on the farm taking care of the horses and the general maintenance of the land. So there will always be help available and you won’t ever have the whole farm in your hands! After all, you guys are volunteers and won’t be expected to work full-time. We want this to be an interesting but above all enjoyable experience for you.

You will get your own private hut with electricity and a fan, enough to comfortably sleep three people.

The huts face the farm with mountains in the background, and the rear of the huts faces the Red Sea where you can see the mountains of Saudi Arabia in the background.

We have shared toilets, shower and kitchen. We will buy healthy food for you to cook whenever you like, and we will also cook and share some meals together.

In your time off you can explore Nuweiba, Dahab, and South Sinai.

Nuweiba is a small port town about a 40-minute walk (or we can arrange a taxi) that has some shops, beaches and diving camps. Dahab is an hour's drive away (can be reached by bus or taxi) where there are many activities such as
scuba/free diving, horse riding, snorkeling, camel riding in the desert, kitesurfing, windsurfing, rock climbing, and hiking. Dahab is one of the most famous diving and kitesurfing spots in the world.

There are also other places to explore like Taba, Ras Sidr, and Saint Catherine which are full of very old historical places such as monasteries, monk caves, mountains, and so on.

Pyramids and Cairo are six hours away from Nuweiba by car or 7 hours by bus, and 1 hour by plane from Sharm El Sheikh.

You can also take the ferry, that leaves from Nuweiba to Aqaba in Jordan, and visit Wadi Rum (where movies such as Star Wars and The Martian were filmed) and Petra (where you can find incredible temples carved into the rocks of the mountains).

We are happy to give you information and help you organize activities on your days off.
